LinkedIn Talent Insights Review: Reports, Pricing, and Who It's For

·

Recruitment

Best for

Recruitment strategy teams at medium-to-large organizations planning hiring at scale, tracking talent pools, skill availability and competitor hiring trends over time.

Not for

A one-off or small hiring need, and anyone wanting to identify or contact a specific candidate; this tool can't do either.

What it costs

No published rate card. Four UK public contracts range £18,850 to £110,000 a year excluding VAT, sold as an enterprise contract negotiated directly with LinkedIn.

Fit for a solo marketer or founder8Even the smallest public contract only pays off with recruitment at volume; a single hiring push doesn't clear it.
Fit for enterprise with procurement85Reachable only once an organization already holds a Talent Solutions contract, then sold under its own separate agreement.
Price transparency10A separate £26,425 Recruiter and Career Pages award sits on the same government notice as the clearest contract, easy to mistake for this product's price.
Reporting and export freedom60Reports export or save to folders, so a hiring manager reopens one without rebuilding the search.
Feature breadth versus depth38Two reports total, workforce numbers only. LinkedIn Recruiter is the separate product built to find and contact people.

Whose money the Talent Insights figures are, and what the reports are built on

None of the pricing figures above is a LinkedIn rate card, because LinkedIn publishes none. Every one is a published public contract: what the Cabinet Office, the Financial Ombudsman Service, Post Office Limited and the Ministry of Defence each agreed to pay, disclosed on Find a Tender and Contracts Finder because the buyers are UK public bodies. All are excluding VAT.

The £26,425 line is a LinkedIn Recruiter award and is listed only to keep it out of the Talent Insights figures. The MoD per-licence number divides a stated total by a stated licence count on a notice that gives no term.

Report types and their contents come from LinkedIn's own product description. The data underneath is member-provided and isn't verified field by field. That limitation is named further down this page; LinkedIn doesn't publish it as a vendor disclosure. Page updated 9 August 2026.

This review answers what talent insights on LinkedIn shows, what it costs, and if it's legit before a hiring manager signs an enterprise contract. LinkedIn Talent Insights is a workforce intelligence platform built for strategic hiring decisions. It is no sourcing tool, and it replaces none of the recruitment market intelligence work already happening on a team.

↑ FACT SHEETWhat Is LinkedIn Talent Insights?

LinkedIn Talent Insights is primarily an intelligence tool. It's intended to complement sourcing tools like LinkedIn Recruiter without replacing them, & it draws on aggregated data from LinkedIn member profiles. Talent Insights gives access to billions of data points on talent: job titles, skills, educational background, and location.

↑ FACT SHEETHow LinkedIn Talent Insights Works

LinkedIn Talent Insights delivers real-time data through two main reports, the Talent Pool report and the Company Report, each answering a different question about the talent market.

LinkedIn Talent Insights two reports: the Talent Pool report covering candidate location and skills, and the Company Report covering workforce changes and hiring trends

Talent Pool Report

The Talent Pool report shows candidate locations and skills by city, country, and school. Talent pool reports like this one help understand demographics and changes over time, useful for a recruitment strategy built around opening a new office. Compare talent pools across a few candidate cities before committing to a location.

Company Report

The Company Report details workforce changes and hiring trends: how many staff a company is hiring, where, and how fast. It provides insights into competitors' hiring velocity and talent inflow, which is how a strategy team tracks a rival's expansion before it shows up in a press release.

Market Benchmarking and Talent Pool Analysis

Market Benchmarking compares talent supply and demand for specific roles, the same core question our labor market intelligence guide covers in more depth. Talent Pool Analysis reveals industry trends and skill availability, drawing on real-time data.

Real-time data informs retention and headcount planning as much as new hiring, and Talent Insights pulls that market research into a single platform. For a broader view of how this fits into talent market intelligence as a category, that guide covers adjacent tools worth comparing it against.

Is LinkedIn Talent Insights Part of LinkedIn Recruiter?

No. LinkedIn Recruiter is a sourcing tool for finding & contacting candidates directly; LinkedIn Talent Insights is a separate, higher-tier intelligence product sold on its own enterprise-level contract. The platform cannot identify specific candidates or their intent, which is the clearest functional line between the two: Recruiter finds people, Talent Insights finds patterns.

↑ FACT SHEETHow Much Does LinkedIn Talent Insights Cost?

LinkedIn doesn't publish Talent Insights pricing, and access runs through an enterprise contract negotiated directly with LinkedIn. Four UK public contracts name Talent Insights specifically, and they don't agree with each other. Together they give a range.

The Cabinet Office paid £18,850 excluding VAT for one year of Talent Insights, 18 December 2025 to 17 December 2026, as a direct award below threshold. The same notice separately awards Recruiter Corporate and Career Pages at £26,425, which is a LinkedIn Recruiter price and not a Talent Insights one.

The Financial Ombudsman Service reached the identical annual figure by a different route. Its £56,550 single tender action covers three years, 28 April 2024 to 27 April 2027, which divides to £18,850 a year. Two unconnected public buyers, two procurement routes, the same number.

Then the spread opens. Post Office Limited paid £110,000 excluding VAT for one year of Talent Insights, 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026, extendable to 2030, awarded below threshold without competition. Six times the Cabinet Office figure, for the same named product.

The Ministry of Defence award is the only one that publishes a unit. It bought 5 named Talent Insights licences for £37,650 excluding VAT from LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, concluded 19 April 2024 on price alone with one tender received. That works out at £7,530 per licence. The notice states no contract term, so that figure isn't confirmed as a per-year price.

None of the four is a list price. Each is what one named public buyer agreed, published because the buyer is a public body and its procurement notices are open records. Talent Insights repays an organization recruiting at volume year-round; at £18,850 for the cheapest published year, a single hiring push won't.

For the LinkedIn Recruiter pricing context, the Vendr contract-value data, and how to negotiate both, see our LinkedIn Talent Insights cost report.

How to Find Talent Insights on LinkedIn

Talent Insights sits inside LinkedIn's Talent Solutions suite alongside LinkedIn Recruiter, accessible once an organization has an active contract. Reports get built inside the platform's dashboard, then can be exported or saved to folders for a hiring manager or stakeholder to reference later without rebuilding the search.

Is LinkedIn Talent Insights Legit?

Yes, with a caveat worth naming directly: it relies on member-provided data, which can be outdated or incomplete since LinkedIn doesn't verify every profile field. That's a real limitation, though hardly a reason to dismiss the tool. There's also a limitation in data availability for niche markets and small regions.

User feedback highlights the effectiveness of visual data in managing expectations. Charts and reports make it easier to manage stakeholder expectations than a raw spreadsheet would, especially when a hiring manager wants a fast, visual answer to a talent-supply question.

Who Should Use LinkedIn Talent Insights

LinkedIn Talent Insights is particularly valuable for medium to large organizations with an ongoing recruitment strategy & a team with the skills to turn reports into decisions. Users report requiring real expertise to extract actionable insights, similar to the skill set covered in our market intelligence analyst guide: reading a talent pool report well is closer to analyst work than a quick LinkedIn search.

A SaaS company scaling engineering headcount, or any employer measuring employer branding through candidate engagement, gets more signal from Talent Insights than a company hiring one role a quarter. See our market intelligence examples guide for how this compares to other workforce reports, including AI-assisted approaches in our AI market intelligence guide.

LinkedIn Talent Insights vs the alternatives

Revelio Labs answers a version of the same question with flat files, leaving a team to build its own dashboard. The company calls its product "the world's first universal HR database," standardizing job titles like "Senior Software Engineer II" & "Sr. SWE" into one role & skill taxonomy across hundreds of millions of employment records.

A 1-year subscription to Revelio Labs' Human Capital Dynamics lists at $85,000 on AWS Data Exchange, a single published number Talent Insights has never carried.

Revelio Labs' clientele skews toward consulting firms & investment organizations. HR departments make up a small share of its customer base, & the product carries no Terminal access, no seats & no API for a recruiting team to log into. Nineteen trial datasets cost $0 with no end date, which gives a buyer a way to test the data before the $85,000 commitment. Neither vendor publishes a large body of G2 or Capterra reviews to check that number against.

Horsefly Analytics goes narrower & deeper: salary benchmarking by job title, experience, skills, background & location, down to individual towns, past the national or regional averages most tools stop at.

British financial services company Admiral Group hired Horsefly for exactly that granularity, building a remote-hiring strategy around town-level pay & supply data. Four plans, Base, Professional, Global & Enterprise, cap seats at 5, 15, 25 & 50 users, and every one of them is quote-only.

Unlike Talent Insights' UK public contracts, Horsefly's pricing has no third-party paper trail: no aggregator such as Vendr, G2 or TrustRadius carries contract data for it. A buyer negotiating that quote has nothing published to compare it against.

Lightcast covers the same strategic-planning ground Talent Insights does, & adds a government-sourced layer neither LinkedIn nor Revelio Labs carries. The company claims "100+ government sources" feeding its 2.5 billion job postings & 800 million career profiles.

Lightcast aggregates that with what it calls "proprietary modeling and unsupression methodologies" to fill in the gaps agencies redact for privacy, then sells the result three ways, Software, Consulting or Data Delivery piped into a buyer's own systems. It publishes no price for any of the three.

Talent Insights at least has real numbers on record: four UK public contracts running £18,850 to £110,000 a year. Lightcast's own pricing page offers nothing sharper than "we take the time to learn about your exact needs," which leaves a buyer with a sales call & no published anchor to negotiate against.

LinkedIn Talent Insights FAQ

What is Talent Insights on LinkedIn?

It's LinkedIn's workforce intelligence platform, built to show talent pool supply, skill availability, and competitor hiring trends through the Talent Pool report and the Company Report. It doesn't source or contact individual candidates.

How much does LinkedIn Talent Insights cost?

LinkedIn publishes no rate card, so the only figures on record are public contracts. UK buyers naming Talent Insights have paid between £18,850 a year excluding VAT (the Cabinet Office, and the Financial Ombudsman Service at £56,550 over three years) and £110,000 a year (Post Office Limited). The Ministry of Defence paid £37,650 for 5 named licences, or £7,530 each, on a notice that states no term.

Is LinkedIn Talent Insights part of LinkedIn Recruiter?

No, they're separate products sold together under LinkedIn's Talent Solutions umbrella. Recruiter sources and contacts candidates; Talent Insights analyzes talent pools and workforce trends at the market level.

Is Talent Insights legit?

Yes. The data is real and draws from LinkedIn's own member base, though it inherits the platform's usual limits: member-reported profiles can be outdated, and coverage thins out in niche markets and small regions.

What is the 4-1-1 rule on LinkedIn?

That's an unrelated LinkedIn content-posting guideline, a ratio for balancing curated, personal, and promotional posts. Talent Insights has no such feature. Worth knowing if you're researching LinkedIn broadly, but it has nothing to do with talent pool reporting.

Bottom Line

LinkedIn Talent Insights earns its enterprise price tag for one job: giving a recruitment strategy team real-time data on talent pools, skill availability, and competitor hiring trends at a scale no manual search can match. It won't find or contact a single candidate, it won't work well for a small, occasional hiring need, and it demands real analytical skill to turn reports into decisions.

For a medium-to-large organization with ongoing recruitment needs, it's a reasonable, if expensive, addition next to the tools covered in our recruitment market intelligence guide.
