Vendr's median lands $800 above Meltwater's own Pro floor, so the typical tracked buyer pays Pro money.

Vendr's highest tracked contract ($56,993) sits under both Enterprise floors Meltwater publishes, which puts the top tier in a price band no tracked deal reaches.

The renewal clause matters as much as the first quote, because initial pricing applies to the initial term only.

Meltwater pricing has no number on the pricing page. All four plan cards on meltwater.com/en/pricing end in the same button, so Starter, Pro, Enterprise and Agency all show one price: contact for pricing. Meltwater doesn't publish a fixed public price list or sell any plan through self-serve checkout. The figures exist anyway, spread across three documents Meltwater wrote itself and one procurement dataset.

A July 2026 post on Meltwater's own blog puts Starter from $10,000 a year, Pro from $25,000 and Enterprise from $130,000. Vendr tracks a $25,800 median across 126 purchases. And a rate card Meltwater filed on the UK government's G-Cloud 14 marketplace prices the base licence at £22,800 a year for 10 users, with every add-on listed underneath it.

This report covers how much Meltwater costs per tier, what each tier gates, the add-ons, the contract clauses that set the real Meltwater cost in year two, and how the price sits against other media monitoring tools. It's written for PR, comms and marketing leads who need a budget figure before the first sales call. Every price was checked against its source on 4 October 2026.

How much does Meltwater cost

Meltwater pricing runs from $10,000 a year at Starter to $130,000 and up at Enterprise, by its own indicative ranges, and most tracked buyers land near $25,800. Meltwater's pricing FAQ says agreements run a minimum of 12 months, and its mCommunity renewal article says contracts are invoiced annually upfront on net 14 terms.

The pricing page's FAQ lists what moves a Meltwater price: the breadth of sources and regions, data volume and workflows, number of users, integrations, onboarding and support needs, and contract terms. Read between the lines and that's the whole cost model. The blog calls the model scope-based, sold as a custom annual contract, and the pricing FAQ calls the plans "flexible and fully customizable".

Meltwater tier ladder: Starter from $10,000 a year, Pro from $25,000, Enterprise from $130,000 (the same post's FAQ says $120,000), Agency quote only, Vendr median $25,800 across 126 purchases, and the UK G-Cloud base licence at £22,800 a year for 10 seats and 25 searches
Meltwater publishes floors on its blog, Vendr's median sits beside the Pro floor, and the G-Cloud card prices the base licence near $30,000.

The floors aren't set in stone. Meltwater's post calls them "indicative only" and says actual investment "may be higher or lower". So the figures that bind a buyer are the ones in the order confirmation and the terms behind it.

Meltwater pricing plans: Starter, Pro, Enterprise and Agency

Four plans sit on the pricing page, each sold as a bundle of capabilities: Media Intelligence, Social Listening, AI Visibility Tracking, Media Relations and Influencer Marketing.

Floors are Meltwater's own indicative figures from its 9 July 2026 blog post. The pricing page shows contact for pricing on all four plans.

Starter: from $10,000 a year

Starter is the entry point for smaller teams buying a first monitoring tool. The blog describes it as "usually built around media monitoring or social intelligence" with standard support and single-region coverage. Its card lists Mira AI, alerts and reporting, and pre-built dashboards, at $833 a month before any add-on.

Pro: from $25,000 a year

Pro offers users more features at 2.5 times the Starter floor: competitive benchmarking, custom dashboards and reporting, and the Advanced level of Mira AI. Meltwater pitches it at regional teams and "data-driven comms teams". The Pro floor of $25,000 sits $800 under the median contract Vendr tracks, $25,800.

Enterprise: from $130,000 a year

Enterprise is the tier that costs an arm and a leg. It's the only non-agency plan with API & MCP Integrations and the only one carrying Premium support in the plan grid. The blog prices it from $130,000 in its summary and from $120,000 in its FAQ, a $10,000 gap on one URL, which shows how loosely the floors are held.

Agency: quote only

Agency has no published floor at all. Its card lists three agency sizes, from a few clients to global portfolios, and includes all five capabilities plus API & MCP access.

What each Meltwater tier gates

What each tier gates depends on which Meltwater page you read. API & MCP access appears only in the Enterprise and Agency columns of the plan grid. Beyond that, the plan grid and the July blog post disagree on three points:

  • Media Relations at Starter. The blog says media relations is "included at every tier". The pricing page's plan grid leaves the Starter cell for Media Relations empty, while the Starter card lists it among the capabilities to choose from.
  • Influencer Marketing at Pro. The grid ticks Influencer Marketing for Pro. The blog says it "isn't part of the Starter or Pro configurations" and that teams needing it "should plan for Enterprise".
  • Mira AI at Enterprise. The Enterprise card says "Mira AI - Enterprise-grade". The grid labels the same cell "Advanced", identical to Pro and Agency.

That's the vendor stating its own packaging two ways, the same failure our report on software pricing errors tracks. Get the module list written into the order confirmation and compare the feature set to determine which tier you're paying for.

Social networks are priced as part of scope. The G-Cloud card's base licence lists "Specified social media monitoring", with the social sources set during scoping.

Meltwater news pricing: the UK G-Cloud rate card

The most detailed Meltwater news pricing anywhere is a six-page PDF Meltwater filed to sell to UK public bodies, Meltwater logo on the cover, addressed to GOV.UK (G-Cloud 14). It's straight from the horse's mouth: the vendor's own document, with GBP prices per line. The Digital Marketplace listing that links it shows "£22,800 a licence a year".

The base Media Intelligence Platform opens the global content library of online editorial, with 10 years of retrospective editorial and 15 months of social history. Every row below the two platform lines in this table bills on top of that base licence, per the G-Cloud 14 pricing document.

*Published in GBP only. At the European Central Bank's 2 October 2026 reference rates (USD 1.1225 and GBP 0.85033 per euro), £1 is $1.3201. The card dates from May 2024, so treat it as the structure of a quote with 2024 numbers in it.

Team size is critical here because seats and searches are the metered units. Going from 10 to 15 seats and from 25 to 50 searches adds £9,900 a year, about $13,069. The journalist database behind media relations work (450,000+ journalists and bloggers, per the card) costs £6,480 in the UK edition.

What drives a Meltwater quote

Meltwater's blog names the variables, and its pricing FAQ repeats most of them. In order of how much they move a price on the G-Cloud card:

  1. Solution areas. Five are sold: media monitoring, social intelligence, AI visibility tracking, influencer marketing and media relations. Each added area raises the quote.
  2. Seats and searches. Five more seats plus 25 more searches cost £9,900 a year on the G-Cloud card.
  3. Geography and media type. Global broadcast costs £5,700 against £2,950 for UK-only, almost double.
  4. AI and data volume. The blog ties Mira depth to "Intelligence Credit consumption".
  5. Integrations. Slack, Teams, Salesforce or custom APIs, with the APIs priced "TBD" on the card.
  6. Contract length and sector. Multi-year terms change the price, and the blog says public sector bodies, universities and not-for-profits get "preferential pricing".

Hidden costs in the Meltwater contract

The devil's in the details, and the details sit in the contract. Meltwater's terms filed with G-Cloud 14 say the agreement "will be extended automatically" for a period equal to the initial term "at Meltwater's then-current prices", unless cancelled in writing at least 60 days before expiry. The next sentence: "Any initial pricing and/or payment terms shall only be applicable to the initial term."

Meltwater's renewal FAQ on mCommunity spells out the price side: "our customers can expect a rate increase at point of each annual renewal." It gives no percentage. The same article says the standard term is 36 months with a 12-month minimum, while the July blog says "Standard contracts are annual". Six costs sit outside the headline figure:

  • Renewal uplift. A rate increase at each annual renewal, with the percentage left to the order form.
  • Auto-renewal. A 60-day notice window, and the cancellation has to be in writing.
  • Upfront, non-refundable billing. The order confirmation invoices the full term upfront, due in 14 days, and "all payment is non-refundable" outside a material breach left uncured for 30 days.
  • Onboarding. The pricing FAQ says complex setups may carry "a one-time implementation or onboarding charge". The G-Cloud listing says support fees are included in the subscription.
  • News licensing in the UK. The terms say fees "do not include any fees payable by the Customer to the NLA", the newspaper licensing body. Licensing of clipped news has been litigated before: in Associated Press v. Meltwater, a New York federal court ruled on 21 March 2013 that Meltwater's copying wasn't fair use, and the case later settled.
  • API access. Priced "TBD" on the rate card, so programmatic access is a separate negotiation.

Reviewers read the auto-renewal as a red flag. A CEO at CourseMaven wrote on TrustRadius on 24 April 2017:

"They bury a 60 day auto-renewal in their terms of use, which is normally reserved for how to interact with the site not business terms."

Janet Van Pelt, CEO, CourseMaven (TrustRadius, 1 out of 10)

A VP of marketing and communications in industrial engineering described the same clause on Capterra on 1 June 2022:

"I stated this when I got the renewal invoice and was told that I had to put it in writing 60 days prior to the auto-renewal in order to cancel the contract."

Verified reviewer, VP Marketing & Communications (Capterra)

Leaving takes work too. A software VP on Capterra (31 January 2023) wrote that after asking to cancel, Meltwater "said we had to participate in an exit interview before they would formally close our account". Meltwater's Trustpilot profile stands at 1.7 from 17 reviews, 94% of them one-star, several of the most recent about renewals.

What buyers pay: the Vendr spread against Meltwater's floors

Vendr's data for Meltwater, in its header block, shows a $25,800 median per year, based on 126 purchases, a tracked low of $5,375, a high of $56,993, and average savings of 15.23%. The same header counts 91 "deals handled", a smaller figure than the 126 purchases behind the median.

Range chart of Vendr's tracked Meltwater contracts from $5,375 to $56,993 with a $25,800 median, plotted against Meltwater's indicative floors of $10,000 for Starter, $25,000 for Pro and $120,000 or $130,000 for Enterprise
Every tracked Vendr contract sits below both top-tier floors Meltwater publishes.

The tracked spread runs 10.6 times from bottom to top, so one "Meltwater price" covers a $5,375 contract and a $56,993 one alike. And Vendr's low of $5,375 sits $4,625 under the Starter floor Meltwater published in July 2026, so at least one tracked deal closed under today's entry figure.

Our social listening pricing report puts the same median beside Brandwatch and Sprinklr.

How to negotiate Meltwater pricing

Renewals start from the old contract: the G-Cloud terms say existing customers who tender are quoted on the basis of renewing their current agreement. Meltwater's FAQ says its team tailors each package so it aligns with your specific goals, regions and user access.

Negotiation starts from scope. Meltwater's blog says that once requirements are clear, "multi-year arrangements and volume considerations" can be discussed.

On multi-year terms, a marketing consultant who rated Meltwater 2 out of 10 on TrustRadius on 2 February 2024 wrote:

"In my experience, sales reps will push you into signing multi-year agreements to avoid steep year over year price increases."

Julie Collins, Owner, Julie Collins Consulting (TrustRadius)

On bundling, a director of social media at Ideal Cabinetry listed this con on TrustRadius on 6 April 2022, alongside a 10 out of 10 rating:

"Too many a la carte items for the sales teams, which starts to price out the client"

Altary Sherman, Director of Social Media, Ideal Cabinetry (TrustRadius)

A communications manager at a utility put the add-on pattern this way on Capterra on 30 October 2020:

"They charge separate pricing for everything, and it seems that every time I turn around they're rolling out a cool new feature they want to share, but it's always extra."

DeDe C., Communications Manager, Utilities (Capterra)

Accounts on price split. A marketing team lead with seven years on the platform called it "reasonably priced and fairly well suited for a more passive application" on TrustRadius (16 June 2022), and an SVP in marketing and advertising wrote on Capterra (16 August 2024) that it "Can be expensive in terms of number of seats and/or tools used."

Turned into a checklist for any media monitoring tool on annual terms, the quotes and the contract point to five moves:

  1. Send the cancellation-or-renegotiation email in writing on day one of the final 60-day window, and keep an eye on the end date printed in the order confirmation.
  2. Get a renewal cap written into the order form, since the terms apply initial pricing to the initial term only.
  3. Bundle the modules you'll need in year two now; mid-term additions are priced case by case, per the pricing FAQ.
  4. Ask for onboarding to be included, quoting the G-Cloud listing's "All support fees are included in the subscription".
  5. Bring Vendr's 15.23% average savings figure and a written competitor quote to the table.

If a multi-year term buys a lower rate, bite the bullet only after the uplift cap is on paper.

Who Meltwater pricing is built for

Meltwater is priced for medium and large size organisations that need print, broadcast and podcast coverage alongside social media in one tool. Its floors scale with scope: Starter at $10,000 assumes one region and a few seats, while the top tier at $130,000 assumes "multiple regions, languages, brands, integrations, teams".

For smaller teams that monitor social media only, the $10,000 Starter floor is about four times Brand24's $2,388 Individual plan. A buyer whose work is social listening alone can compare published plans in our social listening tools ranking.

Meltwater counts 27,000 companies as customers, with 2,300 staff in 50 offices, per its Our Story page. That scale is what a media intelligence buyer pays for: one vendor across news, social media, broadcast and AI answers.

Meltwater pricing against the alternatives

Quote-only pricing is par for the course at this end of the market. Brandwatch, Cision and Muck Rack all sell by quote, so the comparison uses Vendr's median for each; the self-serve tools publish rates.

Figures marked * are Vendr median annual contract values from tracked purchases. The others are list prices from each vendor's own pricing page.

Bar chart of annual cost: Brandwatch $50,000, Meltwater $25,800, Muck Rack $13,000 and Cision $12,625 as Vendr medians, against published entry tiers of Brand24 $2,388, Sprout Social $2,388 per seat and Awario $348
Meltwater's median runs about twice Cision's and Muck Rack's and about half of Brandwatch's.

Brandwatch costs 1.9 times Meltwater's median; our Brandwatch pricing report and Brandwatch review break that contract down. Cision and Muck Rack land near half of it, with journalist databases at the core. At the self-serve end, Brand24 pricing and Sprout Social pricing start under $2,400 a year, and the Brand24 vs Brandwatch comparison shows what that gap buys.

Teams also weighing a CX suite can read our Sprinklr pricing teardown. Mention's pricing page now shows one demo-gated Company plan, so the old entry rate quoted around the web no longer applies. Teams buying influencer work separately can check influencer marketing platform pricing, since Meltwater's blog puts that module at the top tier.

What to budget for year one

The G-Cloud listing's system requirements are a web browser and https access, so a year-one budget carries no hardware line; the subscription, add-ons and renewal uplift carry the lion's share, and each add-on on the G-Cloud card raises the total.

To build the year-one figure, start from the G-Cloud card. A 10-user UK team adding broadcast, print, podcasts and the UK journalist database reaches £38,180 a year, about $50,400, before newswires or reports. Price year two as well: add the renewal increase Meltwater says to expect, with the percentage you negotiated, and get everyone on the same page about the 60-day notice date.

Three planning numbers, by size of program:

  • One region, few seats: the $10,000 Starter floor, with Vendr's tracked low at $5,375.
  • Regional team with benchmarking: the $25,000 Pro floor, next to the $25,800 Vendr median.
  • Global program with API access: $120,000 to $130,000 and up, per Meltwater's own two figures.

Size seats to the people who log in weekly, since seats are one of the two metered units on the G-Cloud card.

The two lowest ratings quoted above, 1 and 2 out of 10 on TrustRadius, both cite contract terms: the buried auto-renewal and the push into multi-year agreements. Category-wide numbers are in our market intelligence platform pricing report.

Bottom line

Meltwater pricing comes down to three numbers and one date. The floors run $10,000, $25,000 and $120,000 to $130,000 by tier, the typical tracked buyer pays $25,800, and the UK rate card prices 10 users at £22,800 before add-ons. The date is 60 days before the term ends, the last day to stop a renewal at Meltwater's then-current prices.

Buyers who need broadcast, print, podcasts and a journalist database from one vendor will find Meltwater's median sits between Cision's and Brandwatch's. Buyers who need social media coverage only can get a social listening tool at published rates under $2,400 a year elsewhere.

Once bitten, twice shy: the customers quoted here learned the renewal clause after signing. Read the order confirmation and the terms it links before the first invoice, and put the notice date in a calendar the day the contract is signed.

What each figure rests on, and what Meltwater leaves unpublished

Tier floors come from Meltwater's pricing post on meltwater.com, dated 9 July 2026; plan contents and the pricing FAQ from meltwater.com/en/pricing; renewal and invoicing terms from Meltwater's mCommunity article at community.meltwater.com. The rate card and contract terms are the pricing document and terms Meltwater filed to the UK Digital Marketplace for G-Cloud 14, both dated May 2024. Medians, ranges and savings are Vendr's, read off vendr.com/marketplace.

Exchange rates are the European Central Bank's 2 October 2026 reference rates. Competitor list prices are read off brand24.com, sproutsocial.com, awario.com and mention.com. Reviews are quoted from TrustRadius, Capterra and Trustpilot, and revenue from Meltwater's Q4 2022 release on mfn.se. Every figure was checked on 4 October 2026.

Meltwater publishes no renewal-increase percentage, no Agency floor and no price for API access, and Brandwatch, Cision and Muck Rack publish no list price at all.
