Medians marked * are anonymised buyer data from closed contracts, published by Vendr. Everything else is the price the vendor publishes itself.

Where these figures come from

Coverage counts are each vendor's own published figure, linked from its entry below. Prices marked * are Vendr's anonymised buyer data from closed contracts, and the Qualtrics median covers Qualtrics licences broadly. Morning Consult publishes no rate card and has no Vendr buyer page, so its row prints no figure.

Worth checking

Conversation analysis and press clipping have their own pages: the social listening tools ranking and the media monitoring tools ranking, which both rank Brandwatch, Meltwater, Talkwalker and Brand24. Qualtrics ranks first of ten in the market research tools ranking. This page ranks the same vendors on brand perception measured over time.

Brand tracking tools measure how many people know your brand, consider it and prefer it, then re-measure on a schedule so a campaign shows up as a moved number. Brand monitoring tools count the other half: brand mentions, brand sentiment and share of voice across social media, news outlets and review sites. Brand management needs both readings, and most vendors sell one, so few buyers get the best of both worlds from a single contract.

This page ranks ten tools across that split: four survey-based brand trackers, one survey platform, four brand monitoring platforms and one tool that can track brand mentions inside AI answers. Each is tested on brand perception measured over time, against named competitors, with a sample or archive a buyer can check.

It's written for marketing teams, PR and comms teams and the insight leads who report brand health and brand reputation to a board.

Entry prices now start below €100 a month. Tracksuit advertises tracking from $19.5k against the "$100k+ price tag" it attributes to annual brand studies, and Peec AI starts at €85 a month for daily reads of what ChatGPT and Gemini say about a brand.

Panel comparing published samples: YouGov BrandIndex 30 million+ panel members and 27,000 brands daily, Morning Consult 30,000 interviews a day, Latana up to 25,000 interviews per brand per market per year, Tracksuit 1,000 then 340 a month, Brandwatch 1.4 trillion posts back to 2008

Evaluation criteria for brand tracking tools

Five criteria decide the shortlist, and the ranking below applies them in this order. Each returns a number or a yes/no a buyer can check on vendor pages before a sales call, for survey platforms and brand monitoring tools alike.

1. Published sample or archive size

Find the respondent count behind a survey tracker, or the post archive behind brand monitoring software, on the vendor's own site. A tracker that won't state its sample can't state its margin of error, and that's a red flag before any demo.

2. Tracking cadence and historical data

Record how often the numbers refresh and how many years of historical data sit behind the first dashboard. A monthly tracker can report a reputational crisis up to 30 days after it starts, so teams pair it with effective brand monitoring and real time alerts that flag the first posts the same day.

3. Market coverage

Count the countries where the vendor fields its survey or crawls its sources. A brand selling in 12 markets needs a tracker that covers 12.

4. Competitor brands per plan

Check how many competitors' brands each plan benchmarks. Latana's Essential plan stops at 4 brands, against 27,000 on YouGov's syndicated list. Competitor analysis is half of brand tracking, so a plan with one slot for your own brand fails here.

5. Price on record

Look for a published entry price or, failing that, a Vendr median with its purchase count. Transparent pricing lets a buyer budget before the first demo.

The best brand tracking tools and brand monitoring tools, ranked

01

YouGov BrandIndex

Best fit

Enterprise marketing teams that need daily brand performance data on their own brand and dozens of rivals.

BrandIndex is YouGov's syndicated tracker, built on a panel of 30 million+ members that rates 27,000+ brands every day across 56 markets. The product page lists 16 metrics and 18+ years of historical data, so a rival's brand perception from 2008 already sits in the dataset.

The 16 metrics fall into three groups: media and communication (advertising awareness, buzz, word of mouth), the purchase funnel (consideration, purchase intent, current customer) and brand perception (quality, value, reputation, recommendation).

YouGov BrandIndex product page, Global coverage section: 56 markets worldwide, 30 million+ panel members and 27,000+ brands tracked daily
YouGov's coverage figures for BrandIndex. Screenshot of YouGov's BrandIndex page, 4 October 2026.

Key features

  • Daily updates on 27,000+ syndicated brands, with no custom survey to field.
  • 16 brand metrics, from aided awareness to corporate reputation.
  • 18+ years of daily history for trend analysis.
  • Sector-level benchmarks in 56 markets for in-depth insights by industry.

Pricing

YouGov quotes every contract, and next to the self-serve tools it costs an arm and a leg. Vendr's anonymised buyer data puts the median at $75,000 a year, with a low of $23,400 and a high of $129,517.

Pros

  • The largest syndicated brand list here, at 27,000+.
  • Daily refresh, so a campaign's lift shows within days.
  • 18+ years of history for any tracked brand.

Cons

  • The highest Vendr median of the ten tools.
  • A niche brand outside the syndicated list has no data.
  • Quote-only pricing.

A market research user at an enterprise company named the coverage gap on G2 in November 2023:

"It might be a case that you are looking for a very niche brand and it's not tracked. If I am paying for it then I should get the flexibility to at least request for tracking a specific brand."

G2 review of YouGov BrandIndex, verified user in market research, 21 November 2023.

Why it's ranked #1. BrandIndex beats Morning Consult on criterion 3 with 56 markets against 45, and on criterion 4 with 27,000 syndicated brands against 4,000. That lead costs a $75,000 Vendr median, the highest of the ten.

02

Morning Consult Intelligence

Best fit

Communications teams that want a daily read on brand reputation, favorability and trust.

Morning Consult fields over 30,000 interviews a day across 45 markets, per its own data-set sheet. Its Intelligence platform page covers 4,000 brands next to economic, political and societal indicators in 48 countries.

The data is hot off the press: paid brands get asked about daily, every other tracked brand weekly. The brand metrics are awareness and buzz, favorability, purchase consideration, usage and Net Promoter Score, plus a brand reputation block on trust, community impact and admired-employer standing.

Key features

  • 30,000+ daily interviews feeding one dataset.
  • Five core brand metrics plus a five-part reputation score.
  • Economic sentiment and inflation indicators next to brand data.
  • Self-serve dashboards for instant insights, plus automated reports and data pipelines.

Pricing

Morning Consult quotes every contract, and Vendr has no Morning Consult page, so every buyer starts at custom pricing.

Pros

  • The highest published daily interview count of the ten.
  • Reputation and political context in one dashboard.
  • Daily cadence for paid brands.

Cons

  • Unpaid brands refresh weekly.
  • Every contract quoted from scratch.
  • 45 survey markets, 11 fewer than YouGov.

Whitney P., a small-business G2 reviewer, wrote in March 2026 that she "really appreciate[s] the frequency and scale of data collection that Morning Consult offers."

G2 review of Morning Consult, 11 March 2026.

Why it's ranked #2. Morning Consult beats Latana on criterion 2: 30,000+ interviews a day against Latana's monthly updates. It trails YouGov by 11 markets and 23,000 syndicated brands.

03

Latana

Best fit

Brands that need brand perception data split by audience segment in several countries.

Latana runs survey-based brand tracking in 150+ markets, with up to 25,000 interviews per brand, market and year on Essential and up to 50,000 on Pro. The Custom tier lifts that to 100,000 interviews a year and up to 50 brands.

The segment count matters for marketing campaigns aimed at one audience: Essential carries 2 custom segments, Pro 3 and Custom 10, each with its margin of error shown on the dashboard.

Key features

  • 4 brands on Essential, 6 on Pro, up to 50 on Custom.
  • Monthly updates, more granular on Pro.
  • Funnel metrics, trend-line models and KPI predictions on Pro, its advanced features tier.
  • Unlimited users on every plan.

Pricing

Essential starts at €7,900 per market a year and Pro at €18,900 per market a year. Contracts start at 12 months, with multi-year discounts, and a market list can get out of hand at €7,900 to €18,900 a market.

Pros

  • A published price per market, rare in survey tracking.
  • 150+ markets, the widest survey footprint here.
  • Margin of error printed next to every segment.

Cons

  • Monthly cadence only.
  • Per-market pricing multiplies: five markets on Pro list at €94,500.
  • A 12-month minimum contract.

A verified G2 reviewer in gambling and casinos summed up the dislikes in August 2024: "Nothing as such, found it a little bit expensive."

G2 review of Latana Brand Analytics, August 2024.

Why it's ranked #3. Latana beats Tracksuit on criterion 3 with 150+ markets against 25, and on sample size. It loses to Morning Consult on cadence: monthly against daily.

04

Tracksuit

Best fit

Growth-stage consumer brands buying their first of the brand tracking tools on this list.

Tracksuit surveys a category with at least 1,000 people in month one to set a benchmark, then at least 340 every month after, through Dynata and CINT panels. Its product page promises a first benchmark read in 30 days across 25 markets, so a team can hit the ground running.

Tracksuit's funnel view, filled with the sample figures its product page uses. Screenshot of Tracksuit's product page, 4 October 2026.

Key features

  • A Timeline view of awareness, consideration, usage and preference against competitors.
  • Imagery tracking of unprompted brand associations.
  • Coach's Notes, a beta summary of significant changes.
  • Media consumption: the platforms and channels category buyers use.

Pricing

Tracksuit lists brand tracking "starting at $19.5k". Vendr's buyer data shows a median of $97,640 a year, from $38,328 to $167,720.

Pros

  • A published entry price.
  • Benchmark data in 30 days.
  • A dashboard reviewers call easy to read.

Cons

  • 340 monthly respondents carry a ±5.3-point margin of error.
  • Monthly cadence only.
  • The Vendr median sits five times above list.

Sophie S., at a mid-market company, praised access on G2 in September 2023:

"Tracksuit has done an amazing job in increasing the accessibility of brand tracking, which historically costs over $100K and is simply unaffordable to smaller brands."

G2 review by Sophie S., 26 September 2023.

Emma C., also mid-market, rated it 3.5 of 5 in October 2023 and flagged the sample:

"Data always needs to be taken with a grain of salt - there's a lot of variables that contribute to the numbers being a bit rogue, so it needs to be consumed as a snapshot of the story not the end-all-and-be-all of brand health."

G2 review by Emma C., 3 October 2023.

Why it's ranked #4. Tracksuit beats Qualtrics on criterion 5 with a $19.5k list price, where Qualtrics lists none. It loses to Latana on markets, 25 against 150+.

05

Qualtrics BrandXM

Best fit

In-house research teams that already run surveys in Qualtrics.

Qualtrics is one of the survey platforms that sells brand tracking as a template. A Brand Tracker project ships a pre-built survey written by subject-matter experts, a transformed data source and a dashboard that updates as responses arrive.

Budget the panel

You buy the sample, so the ball is in your court on panel quality.

The brand tracker page adds machine learning text analysis, driver analysis and alerts, plus a Research Services team of 200+ experts. Qualtrics XM also ranks third in our buyer feedback intelligence ranking.

Key features

  • Pre-built brand survey, data source and dashboard.
  • Machine learning text analysis for open-ended answers.
  • Automatic alerts on metric shifts.
  • Connectors for external social media and search data.

Pricing

Vendr's data from 322 purchases puts the Qualtrics median at $30,000 a year, from $7,020 to $138,884, across Qualtrics licences broadly.

Pros

  • Full control of questions, sample and weighting.
  • The largest Vendr purchase count of the ten.
  • Brand data next to customer feedback and market research surveys.

Cons

  • You field and pay for every survey wave.
  • Panel costs sit outside the licence.
  • Add-on modules priced separately.

A marketing manager at a 1,001 to 5,000 employee company named the add-on pattern on TrustRadius in December 2025:

"[N]ew features always cost extra and it always feels like they are upselling parts of the platform."

TrustRadius review of Qualtrics XM for Strategy and Research, 31 December 2025.

Why it's ranked #5. Qualtrics beats Brandwatch on criterion 5 with a $30,000 Vendr median over 322 purchases, against $50,000 over 40: $20,000 cheaper, on eight times the contracts. It loses to Tracksuit on the same test, because Tracksuit publishes a $19.5k list price.

06

Brandwatch Consumer Research

Best fit

Insight teams that want brand monitoring tools with deep historical data on public conversation.

Brandwatch Consumer Research searches 1.4 trillion+ posts back to 2008, adds 496 million new posts a day and crawls 100 million+ online sources. Brandwatch calls it "the world's largest archive of consumer opinions."

For brand tracking, the archive is the edge: share of voice and brand sentiment for any brand and its rivals, 18 years back, with no survey wave to wait for. Crisis management teams use it to monitor conversations as a story breaks, when a reply has to land in the nick of time.

Key features

  • Iris, a generative AI assistant for summaries and queries.
  • Image analysis that finds logos in photos.
  • Custom classifiers trained with machine learning.
  • Live dashboards shareable with non-users.

Pricing

Vendr's data from 40 purchases puts the median at $50,000 a year, from $19,542 to $81,200. The Brandwatch pricing report breaks down what drives the quote.

Pros

  • 18 years of historical data.
  • Logo detection in images.
  • Dashboards readable without a seat.

Cons

  • Sentiment analysis misreads posts about negative topics.
  • The second-highest Vendr median here.
  • Brand monitoring alone can't measure awareness.

A social media employee at a 10,001+ employee charity described the sentiment problem on TrustRadius in November 2025:

"In our case, it's not very strong for tracking brand/topic sentiment, as the topics we monitor are often inherently negative and the sentiment is automatically attributed as such due to the presence of 'negative' language - but the sentiment towards our brand may actually be positive within that."

TrustRadius review of Brandwatch, 10 November 2025.

Why it's ranked #6. Brandwatch beats Meltwater on criterion 2, with a searchable archive back to 2008, 18 years of history. It loses to Qualtrics on criterion 5: a $50,000 Vendr median over 40 purchases, against $30,000 over 322. See the full Brand24 vs Brandwatch comparison for how the two handle archive depth and query syntax.

07

Meltwater

Best fit

PR and comms teams that run brand monitoring on earned media and social media mentions.

Meltwater's media monitoring product covers 200M+ online publications, 400,000+ newspapers and magazines, 20,000+ podcasts and all 210 US broadcast media markets. Among brand monitoring tools, that print and broadcast reach sets it apart. The Meltwater acquisition report covers its 2023 take-private.

Key features

  • TV and radio monitoring across 210 US media markets.
  • Print monitoring across 400,000+ titles.
  • Podcast monitoring across 20,000+ shows.
  • Regional platforms including WeChat, Weibo and LINE.

Pricing

Vendr's data from 126 purchases puts the median at $25,800 a year, from $5,375 to $56,993. One reviewer says multi-year terms get pitched hard, a bitter pill to swallow on a one-year budget.

Pros

  • Broadcast, print and podcast coverage in one contract.
  • Regional coverage of WeChat, Weibo and LINE.
  • A Vendr median about half of Brandwatch's.

Cons

  • Multi-year contracts pushed in sales.
  • Reviewers question its impression counts.
  • Reviewers report false brand mentions.

Julie Collins, a TrustRadius reviewer who rated Meltwater 2 out of 10 in February 2024, described the contract terms:

"In my experience, sales reps will push you into signing multi-year agreements to avoid steep year over year price increases."

TrustRadius review of Meltwater, 2 February 2024.

Why it's ranked #7. Meltwater beats Talkwalker on criterion 1 by adding 400,000+ print titles and 20,000+ podcasts to its web sources. It loses to Brandwatch, which publishes 18 years of history.

08

Talkwalker (Lumen by Hootsuite)

Best fit

Global brands running social media monitoring in many languages.

Talkwalker became a Hootsuite product when Hootsuite agreed to acquire it on 8 April 2024, and it now sells as Lumen: 150 million websites, 30+ social media channels, 239 countries and 2+ years of historical data. Talkwalker's social listening page lists 187 languages, sentiment in 127+ and 30,000+ brand logos.

Name change

Buyers who knew Talkwalker before 2024 are back to square one on product names, because Hootsuite now ships the Talkwalker engine as Lumen.

That logo recognition puts it at number nine in our visual intelligence platforms ranking.

Key features

  • Logo recognition across 30,000+ brands.
  • Blue Silk GPT for 1-click classifiers and summaries.
  • Customer feedback from 300 review sources.
  • Sold inside Hootsuite, a social media management tool.

Pricing

Vendr's buyer data shows a median of $13,298 a year, from $12,260 to $15,860.

Pros

  • 187 languages, the widest list here.
  • Logo detection at scale.
  • A tight Vendr range of $3,600.

Cons

  • 2 years of history against Brandwatch's 18.
  • Coverage stops at web, social and review sources.
  • Product naming in flux after the Hootsuite deal.

A marketing employee at a 1,001 to 5,000 employee company rated sentiment on TrustRadius in May 2018: "Sentiment analysis. Generally about 80% correct, so good for aggregate reporting on larger datasets." The same reviewer said the price "was a tough sell to SMT."

TrustRadius review of Talkwalker, 29 May 2018.

Why it's ranked #8. Talkwalker beats Brand24 on criterion 3 with 187 languages against 108. It loses to Meltwater on criterion 1, where Meltwater adds 400,000+ print titles to its web sources.

09

Brand24

Best fit

Small marketing teams that need to track brand mentions and sentiment for under $300 a month.

Brand24 tracks 25 million online sources in 108 languages and says 4,000+ brands use it. It's a popular brand monitoring tool for small teams: the price is public, a 14-day trial stands in for a free plan, and a support team of 80+ specialists answers questions. For a small team, it's the cheapest way to get the ball rolling.

Brand24's Presence Score for a Starbucks project reads 79, ahead of 89% of tracked brands, with the daily trend beside it.

Key features

  • Sentiment analysis with sarcasm detection.
  • Language detection across 108 languages.
  • Slack and Microsoft Teams alerts for new brand mentions.
  • White-label reporting with PDF, Excel and PowerPoint exports.

Pricing

Brand24's pricing page lists Individual at $199 a month billed yearly (3 keywords, 2,000 mentions, 12-hour updates), Team at $299, Pro at $399 and Business at $599, with Enterprise from $1,499. Monthly billing adds $50 to $100 per tier. The Brand24 pricing report compares each tier.

Pros

  • Transparent pricing on every tier below Enterprise.
  • Real-time monitoring from Pro upward.
  • Unlimited users from Team upward.

Cons

  • 3 keywords on the entry plan.
  • Irrelevant brand mentions slip through filters.
  • Awareness needs a separate survey tracker.

Capterra reviewers split on coverage and filtering. Khasiba A., a Director of Operations at an 11 to 50 employee non-profit, wrote in October 2025:

"We found the tool's ability to track mentions across vast areas of the web including news sites, social media (especially X/Twitter and Reddit), and niche blogs to be exceptionally thorough."

Capterra review of Brand24, 27 October 2025.

Jennifer B., a Senior Social Media Manager at a 51 to 200 employee company, wrote that month that "Brand24's filters can let irrelevant or incorrect content through, which affects the accuracy of insights."

Capterra review of Brand24, 6 October 2025.

Why it's ranked #9. Brand24 beats Peec AI on criterion 1, with 25 million web and social sources against 50 prompts on 3 AI models for Peec's Starter. It loses to Talkwalker on languages, 108 against 187.

Peec AI

Best fit

Marketing and SEO teams extending brand monitoring to AI assistants.

Peec AI runs a fixed set of prompts through AI models every day and records your brand's online presence in AI answers: visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice against competitors. Its pricing page says 3,000+ brands and agencies use it.

Starter tracks 50 prompts on 3 models daily, which Peec counts as 4,500 AI answers a month. Those answers fly under the radar of the other nine tools. The Reddit AI visibility study shows which sources those answers cite, and Peec AI ranks fifth in our competitive intelligence SEO tools ranking.

Key features

  • Daily tracking on 3 models chosen from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot and Gemini.
  • Brand attribute scoring and recurring objections in AI answers.
  • Citation share by source, domain and URL.
  • Looker Studio integration on Advanced, API access on Enterprise.

Pricing

Starter costs €85 a month, Pro €205 (150 prompts) and Advanced €425 (350 prompts). Annual billing takes 15% off. Claude, Grok, Perplexity and up to 13 models sit on the Enterprise plan.

Pros

  • The lowest entry price of the ten.
  • Unlimited users on every plan.
  • Measures a channel no survey tracker covers.

Cons

  • 3 models per plan below Enterprise.
  • 50 prompts on Starter.
  • Extra models cost €25 to €115 a month each.

Riley M., a Digital Marketing Strategist at a mid-market company, named the model limit on G2 in April 2026:

"I would like to have insight to more models, like Grok and Claude. This is where the price significantly jumps though."

G2 review of Peec AI, 29 April 2026.

Why it's ranked #10. Peec AI earns a place over free tools on criterion 5 with a published €85 entry price and 4,500 tracked answers a month. It loses to Brand24, whose 25 million sources cover the open web.

What brand tracking tools and brand monitoring tools measure

A brand tracker measures the funnel: awareness, consideration, preference and usage. Brand monitoring tools measure the conversation: social mentions, news and reviews. Effective brand monitoring puts both readings on one timeline, because a spike in social mentions only matters if awareness moves with it.

  • Awareness, aided and unaided, from survey trackers.
  • Consideration and preference, the funnel steps after awareness.
  • Brand mentions, the times a brand is named on social media, news and review sites.
  • Reach, the estimated unique people who saw those brand mentions.
  • Engagement, likes, shares and comments on social media posts.
  • Brand sentiment, brand mentions sorted positive, negative or neutral.
  • Share of voice, your brand mentions as a share of all mentions for your brand plus competitors' brands.

Brand data analytics turns those numbers into decisions. A brand reputation dip next to a pricing change, or brand loyalty falling in one segment, changes a marketing strategy and gives a team a competitive edge. Brand growth shows up last, in customer base and market share.

Customer feedback in reviews and complaint threads shows the pain points behind a sentiment drop. Campaign analysis compares the same metrics before and after marketing campaigns, and competitor analysis runs them on rivals to find gaps a rival leaves open. Purchase intent, which YouGov tracks next to reputation, is where a strong reputation turns into sales.

Brand monitoring tools, brand trackers and the other brand intelligence categories

One label, two markets

G2's brand intelligence category lists 130 products, and its top listings mix Brandwatch, Tracksuit and Qualtrics with security vendors CrowdStrike, ZeroFox and Flashpoint.

Four groups of brand intelligence software matter for a marketing buyer:

  • Survey brand trackers (YouGov, Morning Consult, Latana, Tracksuit, Qualtrics) ask people what they know and think.
  • Brand monitoring platforms (Brandwatch, Meltwater, Talkwalker, Brand24) track brand mentions people publish.
  • AI visibility trackers (Peec AI) record what AI assistants say.
  • Brand governance tools keep content on-brand for brand management teams. Adobe Brand Intelligence builds a knowledge graph from brand guidelines and creative assets.

Social listening sits between the first two groups. Brand monitoring tracks explicit brand mentions for brand reputation management. Social media listening reads the wider category conversation for industry trends, consumer opinion and competitive analysis, the job of social listening tools, social media monitoring tools and the social media management suites that social media marketing teams already use.

Media monitoring scans news outlets, blogs, forums and broadcast for PR teams. The competitive intelligence tools ranking covers rival tracking beyond brand.

Where brand data comes from and how accurate it is

Survey trackers buy respondents from panels. Tracksuit names Dynata and CINT as its panel suppliers, and YouGov runs its own 27 million-member panel.

By the numbers
±5.3

Points of margin of error on a 340-person monthly read at 95% confidence. A 1,000-person read carries about ±3.1, the figure Tracksuit publishes for its benchmark.

Line chart of maximum margin of error at 95 percent confidence by sample size: 340 respondents plus or minus 5.3 percent, 1,000 plus or minus 3.1, 2,000 plus or minus 2.2, 4,000 plus or minus 1.5, 25,000 plus or minus 0.6

A 4-point awareness jump in one month on 340 respondents sits inside that noise, and the jury's still out until the next read confirms it. Ask any vendor for the monthly sample per market before reading a chart.

Brand monitoring tools crawl, and machine learning classifies sentiment with a real error rate: the Talkwalker reviewer put accuracy at about 80%.

What brand tracking and brand monitoring tools cost

By the numbers
$75,000

A year, YouGov's Vendr median and the top of this ranking's price range. Peec AI's Starter sits at the bottom, at about €1,020 a year.

Survey trackers cost more because every respondent is paid, the same panel cost behind the quotes in our market research cost report. Brand monitoring tools price on keywords, brand mentions and seats: Brand24's entry plan caps at 3 keywords and 2,000 mentions.

Bar chart of annual cost: Peec AI 1,020 euros, Brand24 2,388 dollars, Latana 7,900 euros per market, Talkwalker 13,298 dollars, Tracksuit 19,500 dollars, Meltwater 25,800, Qualtrics 30,000, Brandwatch 50,000, YouGov 75,000

Free and cheap brand monitoring tools

Google Alerts emails new Google Search results for a topic, the cheapest way to track brand mentions on news outlets and blogs and the nearest thing to a free plan in brand monitoring. Its reach stops at Google Search, so social media platforms and sentiment sit outside it.

Google Trends shows relative search interest, scaled from 0 to 100 against all searches in a place and period: a rough proxy for awareness. The trend research tools ranking covers paid alternatives to Google Trends.

Test before you sign

Past Google Alerts, Brand24's 14-day trial and Peec AI's €85 Starter test brand monitoring efforts without an annual contract.

How to run a brand tracking trial

  1. List the 3 to 5 competitors' brands to benchmark and the markets your marketing strategy covers.
  2. Ask each survey vendor for monthly sample size per market and compute the margin of error.
  3. Test your brand monitoring efforts: run one paid tool and Google Alerts side by side for 14 days to track mentions on the same keywords. Count brand mentions each one catches that the other misses.
  4. Hand-check 50 sentiment tags and record the share the tool got right.
  5. Get renewal terms in writing: term length, notice period and uplift cap.
  6. Score each tool on a vendor evaluation scorecard, weighted to the five criteria above.

Brand monitoring and brand tracking FAQ

What is brand monitoring?

Brand monitoring is tracking where your brand is named across social media channels, news, forums and review sites, then sorting those mentions by sentiment and reach to protect brand reputation. Modern brand monitoring tools add real time alerts and crisis management features: Brand24 refreshes hourly on Team and in real time on Pro.

What is a brand tracker?

A brand tracker is a survey repeated on a schedule that measures awareness, consideration, preference and usage for your brand and named competitors. Tracksuit surveys at least 1,000 people in month one and at least 340 a month after, while YouGov BrandIndex rates 27,000+ brands every day.

What are the best AI brand monitoring tools?

AI brand monitoring records what ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Google's AI Overviews say about a brand, a form of real time tracking for AI search. Of the ten tools here, Peec AI is the one built for it. Its site compares it with Semrush and Ahrefs, each an SEO platform.

How much does Brand24 cost per month?

Brand24 costs $199 to $599 a month billed yearly, or $249 to $699 billed monthly, across four self-serve plans. Enterprise starts at $1,499 a month.

What is Brandwatch used for?

Brandwatch is used for consumer research, social listening and brand monitoring on social media platforms: share of voice, sentiment, trend analysis and campaign analysis across 1.4 trillion+ posts. The Brandwatch vs Sprout Social comparison sets it against a lighter tool.

What is Adobe Brand Intelligence?

It's what Adobe calls a brand integrity platform for enterprise marketing and creative teams. It learns brand guidelines and creative assets, then checks new content against them. Adobe says Xfinity used it to assemble 500 personalized display and email variants in minutes.

Bottom line

Enterprise teams that need daily brand health on dozens of rivals should start with YouGov BrandIndex and price Morning Consult as the alternative. Latana fits segment tracking across many countries, Tracksuit fits a first tracker at a growth brand, and research teams already on Qualtrics can build their own.

For teams that track what people publish, the best brand monitoring tools here are Brandwatch for archive depth, Meltwater for PR coverage, Talkwalker for languages and Brand24 for budget. Teams watching AI search should keep an eye on Peec AI, which reads the answers the other nine miss.
