Sensor Tower pricing in 2026: what 40 tracked contracts cost

Prefer this source on Google

Sensor Tower's median contract runs $75,000 a year across 40 purchases tracked by Vendr. The cheapest of those deals cost $29,500 and the dearest $115,460. Sensor Tower's own pricing page holds one sentence and a demo form: "We customize pricing plans for each customer - get in touch to find your perfect fit."

This report covers what each Sensor Tower product line gates, what its Terms of Service say about renewals and fee increases, what API access and the MCP server require, and what eight rivals charge for app store data. It's written for app marketing, user acquisition and strategy teams sizing a budget before the first sales call.

The cheapest tracked Sensor Tower contract costs 31 times AppTweak's $949-a-year Essential plan. And every subscription renews on its own unless notice lands 90 days before the new term starts.

Sensor Tower's median buyer pays the equivalent of $6,250 a month, billed as one annual contract.

The top tracked contract costs 3.9 times the bottom one in Vendr's dataset, a spread Vendr ties to module selection, seats and data coverage.

A team that misses the 90-day window renews at whatever fees Sensor Tower sets with notice, since Sensor Tower's terms put no cap on renewal increases.

How much does Sensor Tower cost

Sensor Tower cost runs from $29,500 to $115,460 a year in Vendr's dataset, which covers 40 Sensor Tower transactions and puts the median at $75,000. Vendr builds those figures from anonymized transaction data, so each one is a negotiated deal for mobile app intelligence.

Sensor Tower pricing per month works out to $2,458 at the tracked floor, $6,250 at the median and $9,622 at the ceiling. The invoice arrives yearly. Section 4.A of Sensor Tower's Terms of Service, last updated 21 August 2026, wants "full payment" within 30 days of the order form or invoice date, and section 4.C sets the initial term inside each order form.

Range bar of 40 Sensor Tower contracts tracked by Vendr, from $29,500 to $115,460 a year with a $75,000 median, above median contract bars for Similarweb at $37,800 and Apptopia at $72,000
Sensor Tower's $75,000 median sits $37,200 above Similarweb's and $3,000 above Apptopia's, per Vendr.

Annual contracts are the only pricing shape the paid platform comes in. Sensor Tower doesn't publish standard list pricing, and Vendr's guide says most buyers "negotiate custom quotes based on their specific intelligence requirements". That leaves the 40-deal spread as the closest thing to a list price a buyer can check before a quote.

Sensor Tower once had a monthly price. A Hacker News commenter put a figure on it in October 2014:

"Is there any way to get this information (competitor's keywords, keyword app usage, and popularity) without paying $78/month?"

Someone1234, Hacker News, 9 October 2014

Historical price references like that one describe an older pricing model, and our test of twelve AI pricing answers against the vendor's page shows how long stale figures keep surfacing.

How Sensor Tower quotes a price

Every paid seat starts with a demo request and a sales call. Pricing straight from the horse's mouth is one sentence long, and the homepage offers two buttons, Request Demo and Sign Up for Free.

The free platform tier is real but thin. Sensor Tower's sign-up page promises "app details, store category rankings, tools for app store optimization, and more", and section 2.B of Sensor Tower's terms says "Free Tier access may be limited, modified, or removed at any time". Anyone planning a workflow on the free tier is skating on thin ice.

The customer base grew through acquisitions. Sensor Tower bought data.ai, formerly App Annie, on 18 March 2024, a deal that brought 1,400 data.ai clients and a combined base of 2,000+ enterprise customers. It added Video Game Insights and its Steam, PlayStation and Xbox data on 18 March 2025, then AppMagic on 12 May 2026 as a dedicated SMB offering. That release puts the customer count at "more than 2,500 enterprises worldwide".

App Annie users had the same complaint before the merger. A TrustRadius reviewer wrote in 2019 that "It would be great if App Annie would disclose pricing on their website".

Sensor Tower's product lines and what each one gates

Sensor Tower's homepage lists eight products: App Performance Insights, App Advertising Insights, Gaming Insights, Advanced Usage Insights, Pathmatics, Retail Media Insights, Audience Insights and Web Insights, plus an MCP server.

Vendr's guide prices the mobile app side under the older module names, Store Intelligence, Advertising Intelligence and Usage Intelligence, "each priced separately". The old /solutions/usage-intelligence address now redirects to the Advanced Usage Insights page, so both sets of names describe the same products.

The homepage's last step reads "Transform data into actionable insights", and the modules decide which insights a contract unlocks.

Downloads, revenue estimates and keyword rankings

The App Performance Insights page lists downloads, revenue, active users, engagement, retention and app store rankings by country, category and platform. This is the Store Intelligence product in Vendr's guide, and it covers keyword rankings and ASO work on the iOS App Store and Google Play.

Every figure for downloads and revenue in Sensor Tower's platform is a model output. Sensor Tower says it uses "proprietary modeling and panel-based methodologies", so accuracy is something each buyer should test against apps whose real numbers they already hold. The same page says the estimates are used "for directional analysis, competitive benchmarking, and market sizing".

Ad intelligence across networks and creatives

App Advertising Insights tracks which ad networks serve impressions, share of voice, impression trends and creative performance. It shows "how top apps direct their advertising budgets across different media buying channels".

Vendr's guide calls this module Advertising Intelligence and says it's typically priced higher than Store Intelligence, since app marketing and user acquisition teams buy it to stay ahead of rivals' creative and network moves. For a wider field of ad trackers, our ad intelligence software rankings cover nine platforms with published entry prices.

Usage intelligence: sessions and retention

Sensor Tower's Advanced Usage Insights draws on "a proprietary panel of millions of mobile users". It reports time spent, session counts, week-to-week retention, cross-app usage and churn, which is the session data mobile app teams use to benchmark one app against a rival. Vendr calls Usage Intelligence "often the most expensive module" because of panel costs.

Gaming, web and digital ad products

Pathmatics and Retail Media Insights cover ads on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, OTT and retailer sites. Web Insights adds web visits, the ground our website traffic analysis tools rankings cover, and Gaming Insights layers GameIQ genre, revenue and monetization data on top. A mobile-only team has no use for those four, which makes them the first lines to trim.

What drives a Sensor Tower quote

Module selection comes first. Vendr's guide lists the mobile modules as separate line items and says enterprise customers often bundle the full set. A team buying downloads and revenue data alone is pricing a different contract from a publisher that adds ad intelligence and the usage panel.

Seat count comes second. Section 2.D of Sensor Tower's terms licenses each Authorized User as an individual, and any sharing of User Account access between individuals "constitutes a material breach by You of the Agreement". Vendr's guide adds that seat types carry different prices, with full access seats priced above view-only ones.

Geographic coverage is the third lever. Vendr names geographic markets, app categories and historical data depth as cost drivers, and says U.S.-only coverage "costs significantly less than global access". Limited coverage at signing, with regional coverage added later, keeps the first-year bill down, though Vendr flags that mid-contract expansions "may carry premium pricing".

History depth has a published analogue. AppTweak gates 6 months of history at $79 a month, 12 months at $299 and 24 months at $549, with all-time history and other advanced features on its custom Enterprise tier. Sensor Tower sells the same dimension, minus the price tags, and a quote that leaves history depth blank is a red flag.

Company size shapes the rest of the pricing, along with multi-year commitments. Vendr's guide groups buyers into small teams, mid-market teams and enterprises by seat count, and places API access in the enterprise group.

Sensor Tower API pricing and API access

Sensor Tower's API access carries separate fees outside the platform fee. The Data Access Service supplement meters it in Call Credits, with a Call Limit "as set forth for the DAS subscription in the applicable Order Form". Those usage caps are the API's real price lever, and Vendr's guide says the API fee scales with the usage limits a buyer signs for.

Going over the limit can cost an arm and a leg. Section 3.D lets Sensor Tower suspend access "until the next billing period", charge overage fees "at the rates specified in the Order Form or at Sensor Tower's then-current standard rates", or sell more credits. Section 2.C also reserves the right to throttle any request it judges "excessive in volume, frequency, or resource consumption".

Sensor Tower's MCP server rides on the same platform contract. Sensor Tower launched it in July 2026, and its demo page says it's "available to anyone with an active Sensor Tower API subscription". The supplement names "Sensor Tower's API or MCP" as the authorized interfaces, so Claude or ChatGPT access to Sensor Tower's datasets needs the API line on the order form first.

Smaller tools publish their API pricing. App Radar sells an API add-on from €199 for 3,000 requests a month, and Sonar bundles a REST API at 1,000 requests a day plus MCP access into its $29 Indie plan. Our market intelligence API rankings compare metered APIs across the wider category.

Contract terms that raise the total cost

Sensor Tower contracts follow the public Terms of Service unless the order form overrides them, and these clauses move pricing after signature:

ClauseWhat it saysSection
Automatic renewalRenews for additional periods unless either party asks to end it at least 90 days before the renewal termToS 4.C
Renewal feesSensor Tower may "increase and/or apply new Fees for each Renewal Term with notice"ToS 4.A.i
PaymentFull payment due within 30 days of the order form or invoiceToS 4.A.ii
Early exitCustomer pays unpaid fees through the end of the current termToS 4.F
Suspension"no refunds will be issued"ToS 4.G
API overageSuspension, or overage fees at order-form or then-current standard ratesDAS 3.D

Sensor Tower's renewal clause is the one that bites. Read between the lines of section 4.A.i and next year's price is whatever Sensor Tower notifies. Vendr's guide reports auto-renewal clauses with annual price escalations, and the terms set no ceiling on them. On the $75,000 median, every percentage point of uplift adds $750 to the next year's invoice.

Vendr's guide says Sensor Tower charges per user seat and that adding seats mid-contract "often costs more per seat than including them upfront".

What buyers say about the price

Capterra shows Sensor Tower at 4.3 out of 5 from 3 reviews, with value for money rated 2.0 from 2 of them. An ASO executive at a computer and network security firm put it plainly:

"And also the major problem that is, this tool is not for small teams, so expensive. Only big enterprises can afford it."

Mh V., ASO Executive, Capterra, 18 April 2022

A product owner who rated its ad intelligence 5 out of 5 said the same:

"Since I have a medium size application, I could use it very little because of its price."

Ali Y., Product Owner, Education Management, Capterra, 26 March 2022

On Hacker News, an indie iOS developer described the data.ai side of the same model in September 2021:

"You know a service is expensive when there is only a "contact sales" button on the homepage."

gh123man, Hacker News, 14 September 2021

The sales process draws its own complaints. A head of digital marketing at YachtLife, reviewing App Annie on TrustRadius, walked away from a paid plan over it:

"I was bombarded for about 2 weeks straight with phone calls and hard-core sales emails with just asking to talk, no questions or personalization."

Sam Lepak, Head of Digital Marketing, YachtLife, TrustRadius, 11 March 2019

How to negotiate Sensor Tower pricing

Start from the calendar. Sensor Tower's 90-day non-renewal notice in section 4.C means a team that wants to renegotiate has to act more than three months out, so put the renewal date in the calendar 120 days ahead to stay ahead of it.

Ask for the number in writing early. One Hacker News user who clicked through on data.ai's sales button reported in 2021 that "app annie quoted mid 5 digits per year".

Get pricing for the competitive set before the second call. Vendr's Apptopia page shows a $72,000 median, and its Similarweb page shows $37,800 across 157 purchases. Our competitive intelligence pricing report lists what 18 more vendors charge.

Trade term length for pricing, carefully. Vendr's guide names multi-year commitments and annual prepayment as the two terms that unlock discounts off the list price. Section 4.C writes the initial term into each order form, so the term length and the discount sit in the same signed document.

A multi-year deal without a written cap on renewal increases is a bitter pill to swallow in year three, so the cap goes in the order form alongside the discount.

Once competing quotes are in hand, the ball is in your court. Lock per-seat and per-module expansion prices, set the API Call Limit to measured usage, and get any overage rate written down. The devil's in the details here: section 3.D falls back to standard rates where the order form names none, so keep an eye on API usage each quarter.

Sensor Tower alternatives and what they cost

Sensor Tower alternatives split into two groups: quote-only data platforms that cost about the same, and self-serve ASO tools with monthly pricing. The table shows the cheapest published or tracked entry point for each.

Sensor Tower's cheapest tracked contract costs 31 times AppTweak's Essential plan and more than 100 times Sonar's Indie plan.

Apptopia and Similarweb pricing

These are the like-for-like platform quotes. Apptopia's $72,000 median sits within $3,000 of Sensor Tower's. Similarweb's median is about half, and its App Intelligence module covers iOS and Android downloads and store rankings as an add-on, which our Similarweb pricing report breaks down. Our Similarweb review covers its web data.

AppTweak, App Radar, Sonar and MobileAction

These carry published pricing and sell ASO and keyword tracking by the month. AppTweak's Essential plan costs $79 a month for 500 keywords and one seat, and its higher tiers run $3,590 and $6,590 a year.

App Radar, owned by SplitMetrics, starts at €69 a month or €690 a year for 2 apps and 500 keywords, and its cheapest route in is a 7-day trial that needs a card. Sonar charges $29 a month for 10 apps and 2,500 keywords, and its $290 yearly price is a drop in the bucket next to a $29,500 floor.

MobileAction starts at $15 a month for ASO, or $150 a year billed yearly, and quotes its Ad Intelligence product, which it says covers "45+ ad networks and DSPs" and "90M+ ad creatives".

Appfigures, AppMagic and data.ai

Appfigures has a free plan for 5 connected apps, and its Monitor tier costs $35.99 a month billed yearly, or $431.88 a year. AppMagic now belongs to Sensor Tower as its SMB platform. Data.ai, formerly App Annie, is part of Sensor Tower too, so a buyer who quotes all three is pricing one company's products.

Individual developers and small teams

Sensor Tower's pricing targets publishers with an ad budget, and it's a long shot for a solo developer. A developer tracking one app pays $290 a year for Sonar's Indie plan, while the lowest tracked Sensor Tower contract would eat that budget 101 times over. For a single app with a few hundred keywords, the published Sensor Tower alternatives cover the job.

The math changes for a studio spending heavily on user acquisition. Downloads and revenue estimates for every competitor in a category, plus ad creative tracking, are what Sensor Tower's paid tiers sell. Our app market intelligence guide maps the app growth data a mobile app team needs at each stage, and the competitive intelligence tools rankings cover broader options.

What to budget for Sensor Tower

Small teams should budget $29,500 to $75,000 for Sensor Tower's first year, the span from Vendr's tracked floor to its median, on limited coverage and a few app categories. Larger enterprises with several modules and global coverage sit at the top of the range, where the dearest of the 40 tracked contracts cost $115,460.

Add the API line if the MCP server is on the wish list, because it needs an active API subscription. Iron out the details on seats before signature.

Then add renewal pricing risk. At the $75,000 median, each 5% renewal uplift costs $3,750 a year. Our market intelligence platform pricing report sets that against the category.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Sensor Tower cost?

Vendr's 40 tracked purchases put Sensor Tower at a $75,000 median per year, with a range of $29,500 to $115,460. Sensor Tower keeps no public pricing sheet and quotes every customer.

How much is Sensor Tower per month?

About $6,250 a month at the median, or $2,458 at the lowest tracked contract. Sensor Tower bills those amounts as annual contracts.

Does Sensor Tower include API access?

Sensor Tower's API access is a separate subscription metered in Call Credits, with overage fees set in the order form. The MCP server requires it.

How credible is Sensor Tower data?

Sensor Tower's downloads and revenue estimates are model outputs. Our video game industry statistics and TikTok statistics reports both cite its quarterly indexes. Duolingo's Andrew Nam is quoted on Sensor Tower's homepage saying it has "become a core part of our industry and competitive analysis". One Capterra reviewer wrote that "Sometimes data are not so accurate".

Who are Sensor Tower's main competitors?

The main Sensor Tower alternatives are Apptopia and Similarweb, which compete on quote-only pricing for app market data. AppTweak, App Radar, Sonar, MobileAction and Appfigures compete on ASO and keyword tracking with monthly prices.

How much does ASO cost?

Across AppTweak, App Radar, Sonar and MobileAction, published app store optimization pricing runs from MobileAction's $15 a month to AppTweak's $549-a-month Grow Plus plan.

Bottom line

Sensor Tower costs $75,000 a year at the median across 40 tracked contracts, and the cheapest tracked deal is $29,500. The price buys app store estimates, ad tracking and a usage panel in one contract.

Sensor Tower's contract is where the money moves. The 90-day renewal notice, the uncapped renewal fees and the metered API all sit in the terms before any discount talk starts. A buyer who caps all three in the order form pays the price negotiated.
