Ahrefs review
Ahrefs' Lite plan is $129 a month, which undercuts Semrush's cheapest self-serve SEO plan and includes AI-prompt tracking at every tier. It places second in our competitive intelligence for SEO ranking.
This review is in progress. What follows is the short version: what the tool does, what it costs, and who it suits. The full scored review against our four-pillar methodology, fit, signal quality, workflow depth and buyer caution, comes later. Until then, our competitive intelligence for SEO ranking and our digital marketing intelligence ranking cover the tools Ahrefs competes against.
What Ahrefs does
Ahrefs built its name on backlink data and runs a proprietary web index. Raven Tools resells Moz and Majestic data; our Raven Tools review names this as the concrete gap between the two products. Competitive research sits inside Site Explorer, which runs content-gap and domain-comparison reports against up to 20 competitors per project.
Brand Radar extends the same idea into AI search, researching a brand across a database the vendor says covers more than 271 million organic prompts. Content Explorer handles competitor content and mention tracking; Rank Tracker covers 750 keywords at Lite and 10,000 or more at the top tiers.
Pricing
Lite is $129 a month, Standard $249, Advanced $449, and Enterprise starts at $1,499 a month on an annual commitment, all per ahrefs.com/pricing. Additional users cost $40 to $100 a month depending on tier. Lite includes 6 months of historical data, 750 tracked keywords and 5 tracked AI prompts updated daily.
Who it's for
Teams that want backlink-level competitor detail and AI-answer tracking on one subscription, and content teams whose recurring question is why a competitor outranks a page that already scores well.
Who should skip it
Small agencies billing under $5k a month. One included user at $129 makes seats expensive fast, and Raven Tools' $399 Lead tier still lands under Ahrefs' $449 Advanced plan with white-label reporting included. Reports also consume credits quickly on deep competitor backlink pulls, which a July 2026 G2 reviewer raised alongside a complaint that Ahrefs gives no view of the query behind an AI search.
