Team/Agency undercuts Pro + AI from the fifth user: $187 a month billed annually against $209 for one Pro + AI seat plus four $30 extras.

Annual billing saves $120, $360 and $744 a year on the three tiers, the three figures SpyFu prints under each card.

The $40 API credit on Pro + AI buys 80,000 rows of domain stats at $0.50 per thousand, or 13,333 rows of historical ads at $3.00.

SpyFu pricing runs from $29 to $249 a month across three paid plans, Basic, Pro + AI and Team/Agency, per SpyFu's checkout page read on 16 October 2026. Annual billing cuts every tier by 25%, a discount SpyFu's banner sells as "3 months free" and "25% savings."

The same domain still serves an older rate card at a second URL, with a $33 Basic plan, a $79 Professional plan and a free plan. SpyFu's homepage still says "Membership starts at just $33/month." That's how a $79 tier SpyFu no longer sells keeps showing up in search results and AI answers.

This report prices each tier, the seat and API add-ons, the refund rules and SpyFu against Semrush, Ahrefs and Moz Pro. It's written for solo marketers, small agencies and in-house marketing teams picking a plan. Our SpyFu review covers what the data is worth once you've paid.

How much SpyFu costs

A single SpyFu seat costs $348 a year on Basic, $1,068 on Pro + AI and $2,244 on Team/Agency, each billed annually. Month to month, the same three plans run $468, $1,428 and $2,988 over twelve months. Those totals multiply the monthly rates on the plan cards, straight from the horse's mouth on the SpyFu pricing page.

The SpyFu cost ladder is short. Three tiers, two billing modes, one coupon. Pro + AI carries the only intro offer: $59 for the first month, "$119/month thereafter."

SpyFu's three paid plans as of 16 October 2026: Basic at $29 a month billed annually or $39 monthly for 1 user, Pro + AI at $89 or $119 for 1 user, Team/Agency at $187 or $249 for 5 users, with extra users at $15 or $30, API credits of $40 or $100, and annual savings of $120, $360 and $744 a year
SpyFu's price ladder tops out at $249 a month, and the only seat bundle sits on Team/Agency.

SpyFu pricing plans, tier by tier

SpyFu offers the same core features on all paid plans, research on competitors across SEO and PPC data, then caps the volume. The comparison table on the checkout page runs to 46 labels; these are the rows that move a bill.

Figures are SpyFu's vendor list prices and plan limits, read off the spyfu.com checkout page on 16 October 2026.

Basic plan: $29 or $39 a month

The Basic plan is SpyFu's entry seat for solo marketers. It includes unlimited searches, returns up to 10,000 search results per query and exports 10,000 rows, with 5,000 weekly tracked keyword rankings, 10 automated reports and 1 live site tracking project, enough keyword research for one site.

Basic leaves out both history datasets. The plan table marks Organic Ranking History and 10+ Years Ad History as unavailable on Basic. RivalFlow is set to 0 sites, the API is off, and sales-lead exports stop at 250.

The Basic card and the comparison table disagree on the AI features. The card shows ChatGPT integration and AI brand monitoring as unavailable; the table lists both as "Limited", with 3 ChatGPT chats. A buyer who reads between the lines should treat 3 chats as the ceiling.

Pro + AI: $89 or $119 a month

Pro + AI unlocks the full 10+ years of historical data on ads and organic rankings, with unlimited search results and unlimited data exports. Tracked keywords rise to 15,000 a week, automated reports to 100 and site tracking projects to 10.

It's also the first tier with API access, a $40 monthly credit, custom reporting with white-labeled reports, Google Search Console performance tracking and unlimited ChatGPT integration through SpyFu GPT. RivalFlow AI covers 1 site and up to 20 pages a week. For a one-person agency, Pro + AI is the cheapest plan with both the ad archive and the API.

Team/Agency: $187 or $249 a month

Team/Agency is the same data with bigger meters: 5 users included, 50,000 weekly tracked keywords, unlimited automated reports, 2 million crawl pages a month on a daily audit schedule, 5 connected sites and a $100 API credit. SpyFu offers RivalFlow on 5 sites and 100 pages under what it calls "Agency Flex Use."

The plan is priced for agencies with five people on the account, and it kills two birds with one stone for them: one invoice covers the seats and the client sites. The seat maths below shows where it starts paying off.

What SpyFu data each plan buys

SpyFu data comes in three sets, and the plan decides how far back each one reaches. The first is Google Ads history: every keyword a domain has bought, the ads that ran on it and an estimate of its ad spend. The second is organic ranking data, the keywords competitors rank for and how those keyword rankings moved. The third is domain-level marketing data for prospecting.

Competitors' Google Ads going back 10+ years of historical data sit behind Pro + AI. Both history rows are unticked on Basic, which limits a competitive analysis to present-day data.

The key features and the user interface are identical on all three tiers: domain search, keyword search, backlinks searches, competitors results and Kombat. SpyFu's homepage says Kombat shows "the core keywords that your top Google Ads competitors buy but you don't."

The tiers differ on volume. Basic's 10,000-row cap applies to every result list, so a large advertiser's paid keywords past row 10,000 drop off until the buyer upgrades to Pro + AI, along with the long tail of competitors' data.

Keyword tracking runs on the same tiered meter, and rank tracking refreshes weekly on every plan. That trade-off lets SpyFu sell 5,000 tracked keywords for $29 a month; competitors such as Semrush sell 500 daily ones for $117.33.

The older SpyFu price list still online

SpyFu serves two rate cards from the same /mainpurchase/ path. The ?page=plans version, read on 16 October 2026, lists a Free for Life plan at $0, Basic at $33 a month billed annually ($399 a year) or $39 monthly, and Professional at $58 a month annually ($699 a year) or $79 monthly.

That older page also describes a different product. Professional gets 10,000 API calls and custom branded reporting, Basic gets 10,000 top lists results and 250 sales leads, and the free plan returns "10 search results, instead of 5." None of those limits appear on the current checkout page.

Three SpyFu price lists side by side as read on 16 October 2026: the current checkout page at $29, $89 and $187 a month billed annually, the older ?page=plans list at $0, $33 and $58 a month billed annually with a $79 monthly Professional plan, and G2's SpyFu-supplied pricing panel at $59, $159 and $299 a month
Three SpyFu price lists were live on 16 October 2026, and only the checkout page matches what a new subscriber pays.

Email a brief

G2 adds a third list. Its SpyFu product page shows Basic at $59, Pro + AI at $159 and Team/Agency at $299 a month, captioned "Pricing provided by SpyFu." That's a red flag for anyone pricing from G2, since SpyFu's checkout page lists $39, $119 and $249 for the same plans.

The $33 figure has caused billing confusion before. A Trustpilot reviewer, David B, wrote on 30 September 2018:

"They tell you $33 per month and then when you go to cancel will see they charged your card $399."

David B, Trustpilot, 30 September 2018

$399 is the older list's annual Basic charge. A buyer comparing SpyFu pricing across pages should check the URL bar first, because our software pricing errors report found vendor pages contradicting themselves in 16 places across the sites it audited.

Add-ons priced outside the plan fee

Two charges sit outside the plan fee: extra seats and metered API data. Both bill to the card on file.

Additional seats and the five-user crossover

Additional seats cost $15 a month on Basic and $30 on Pro + AI and Team/Agency, per the "Cost per Additional" row on the pricing page. Team/Agency bundles 5 users into its $187 annual rate, so the plan choice for a growing team comes down to headcount.

Monthly SpyFu cost on annual billing for 1 to 6 users: Pro + AI at $89, $119, $149, $179, $209 and $239, against Team/Agency at $187 for 1 to 5 users and $217 for 6
Team/Agency costs less than Pro + AI from the fifth user, $187 against $209 a month.

Two seats on Pro + AI cost $119 a month billed annually and three cost $149. Four people cost $179, $8 under Team/Agency. A fifth person tips it: $209 against $187, and Team/Agency also brings 35,000 more tracked keywords and $60 more API credit. A sixth user adds $30 on either plan, $239 against $217. Small teams of two or three should stay on Pro + AI.

SpyFu API pricing

The SpyFu API bills per row of data returned. SpyFu's API pricing page sets a cost per thousand rows by endpoint, subtracts the monthly credit and charges the rest to the payment method on file. Its own worked example: 2,000 rows at $0.50 CPM costs $1.00, a drop in the bucket next to the $40 credit.

  • Competitors endpoints and getKeywordInformation: $0.20 per 1,000 rows
  • Domain stats and most SEO keyword endpoints: $0.50
  • Kombat, getLiveSeoStats and most keyword research endpoints: $1.00
  • PPC research endpoints such as getPaidSerps and getMostSuccessful: $2.00
  • getRelatedKeywords: $2.50
  • Historical ad and ranking endpoints: $3.00
  • Top pages endpoints: $5.00

Usage past the credit is charged at the same per-thousand rates. A PPC research job pulling 50,000 rows of historical ads a month costs $150, or $110 after the Pro + AI credit. For SERP-level pulls, our DataForSEO pricing and SERP API pricing reports price the per-request alternatives.

Refunds, cancellation and hidden fees

SpyFu backs every plan with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and the pricing page promises "Cancel Anytime Via Email, Livechat, or Phone" with "No contracts. No questions. No fine print." That reads as no strings attached. The refund still has to be requested. SpyFu's help article on the guarantee says to contact SpyFu support within the first 30 days, by live chat or support@spyfu.com.

Cancelling in account settings stops the next charge and leaves access running "until the end of the billing period," per the cancellation article. SpyFu's pricing page says subscribers can also cancel "on your MyAccount page, Facebook, even Twitter."

A refund takes a separate request. To get money back, contact SpyFu support and ask for it inside the window; SpyFu's own wording is "It's not automatic, but it is easy once you request it."

SpyFu's published charges stop at the plan fee, seats and API rows, with no hidden fees listed. Trustpilot complaints centre on charges that kept running after a cancellation. One reviewer, Cynthia, wrote on 8 December 2022:

"They continued to charge me like for eight months after canceling and then only credited back one month."

Cynthia, Trustpilot, 8 December 2022

Iliyan D wrote on 13 October 2023 that "In one instance they charged me two times $39," and a reviewer posting as Crypto T wrote on 11 September 2026, "They said they refunded me, but never did." Once bitten, twice shy: keep the chat transcript or email that confirms the cancellation. Trustpilot shows a 3.4 TrustScore from 152 reviews, against 4.6 from 518 on G2.

What buyers say about the price

Several reviewers name the price as the reason they picked SpyFu. A marketing manager at a 51-to-200-person company wrote on TrustRadius on 2 June 2022: "Pricing is really cheap. We paid under 39 USD for a subscription."

Rohit Langde, marketing manager at MalwareFox, wrote on TrustRadius on 26 May 2022:

"If you compare the pricing plans with competitors, SpyFu definitely has an edge."

Rohit Langde, Marketing Manager, MalwareFox, TrustRadius, 26 May 2022

A Capterra reviewer, Blake, in education management, said on 12 December 2025 that SpyFu tools "provide strong value, especially for marketers working with limited budgets," per Capterra.

The complaints run the other way on structure. A TrustRadius executive in marketing listed "Monthly vs annual billing." as a con on 19 May 2022, and a Trustpilot reviewer, Alyssa W, wrote on 28 June 2026: "I do wish it offered a free trial, though."

That last request is par for the course. SpyFu's current checkout page offers no trial and no $0 tier; the 30-day refund does that job. The only free tier on spyfu.com sits on the older ?page=plans list, capped at 10 results per search.

SpyFu against Semrush, Ahrefs and Moz Pro

SpyFu Basic costs $100 a month less than Semrush's SEO plan and $90 less than Ahrefs Lite on monthly billing. Every price below is the vendor's own list rate, read on 16 October 2026 from Semrush's pricing page and Ahrefs' pricing page.

Figures are vendor list prices read off each vendor's own pricing page on 16 October 2026. Semrush annual rates are its monthly equivalents on yearly billing.

The tracked-keyword column carries a catch. SpyFu sells weekly tracked keyword rankings, Semrush sells daily ones, so 5,000 SpyFu keywords and 500 Semrush keywords are different products. Our rank tracker pricing report prices keyword tracking per keyword across dedicated trackers, where the same 1,000 keywords cost $69.86 to $299 a month.

Semrush and Ahrefs cover more of an SEO workflow per seat. Semrush's SEO plan tracks 500 keywords daily across 5 sites, and its ladder adds content and AI visibility toolkits that cost an arm and a leg next to SpyFu's (our Semrush pricing teardown walks the full ladder).

Ahrefs' index runs to 35 trillion backlinks against SpyFu's 1 trillion, per our SpyFu review. For backlink analysis and backlink data at depth, Ahrefs pricing buys more.

SpyFu's edge is PPC history. Its Pro + AI plan keeps 10+ years of historical data on a domain's paid keywords, ad copy and ad spend estimates, and Kombat compares several competitors' keyword overlap in one screen. As a PPC tool for competitor research, that archive is the reason to pay $89 a month.

Moz Pro sits between the two camps: its Standard plan listed at $99 a month, or $79 billed annually, with 300 tracked keywords when our Ahrefs teardown read Moz's page on 4 October 2026. The full field of 16 vendors sits in our SEO tools pricing report.

Who each SpyFu plan fits

SpyFu's lower tiers target solo marketers and small teams; Team/Agency targets small and mid-sized agencies. Here's how the three split by buyer, and where to get the ball rolling:

  • Basic, $348 a year: freelancers and small businesses doing keyword research and keyword ideas off competitors' lists, without the ad archive.
  • Pro + AI, $1,068 a year: PPC managers and consultants who need the PPC history, API access and branded client reports.
  • Team/Agency, $2,244 a year: an agency with five users, five client sites and 50,000 tracked keywords.

Many users buy SpyFu for one job, a fast read on competitors' Google Ads. Its homepage says it "sorted 50 million+ websites into lists like Top Advertisers by State and City," and domain leads with top lists let a buyer filter domains by ad spend, industry and technology. That's competitive intel for sales prospecting as much as competitor research.

Buyers who need technical SEO depth or a daily rank tracker for local markets should look at other tools. SpyFu's rank tracking refreshes weekly, too slow for anyone watching competitors move day to day, and its marketing data is a set of modeled estimates built from what its homepage calls "7.2 trillion results across 152 million domains."

What to budget for SpyFu

A solo buyer on Basic pays $348 for the first year. A buyer still on the fence can bill monthly first, which costs $39 for that month, so three months on monthly billing reach $117 before committing to annual.

A three-person team on Pro + AI pays $149 a month billed annually, $1,788 a year. Add 50,000 rows of historical ads through the SpyFu API each month and the total rises by $110 a month after the credit, $1,320 a year. A five-person agency on Team/Agency pays $2,244 a year flat, plus API rows past $100.

Bite the bullet on annual billing only after a month on the product. The 30-day refund covers both modes, but a $1,068 annual charge is a bigger number to claw back than $119 if support drops the ball.

For a wider read on what competitive intelligence costs outside search tools, our competitive intelligence pricing report covers the enterprise end, and SpyFu sits at #9 in our competitive intelligence tools ranking.

Frequently asked questions

Is SpyFu free?

SpyFu's current checkout page lists three paid plans and no free plan. The older ?page=plans list still shows a Free for Life tier capped at 10 search results. Every paid plan carries the 30-day money-back guarantee.

How much is SpyFu per month?

Basic costs $39 a month, Pro + AI $119 and Team/Agency $249 on monthly billing. Annual billing drops them to $29, $89 and $187 a month, and all three include unlimited searches.

How accurate is SpyFu?

SpyFu's ranking data, traffic and ad spend figures are estimates from its own crawl, which it puts at 13.1 billion keywords. Its homepage claims "18+ years" of history while its plan table sells "10+ Years Ad History." Reviewers who checked estimates against their own accounts report gaps, mostly for local small businesses, as our SpyFu review documents.

Which SEO tool is better, SpyFu or Semrush?

Semrush covers more SEO work per seat, with 500 daily tracked keywords on its $139 SEO plan. SpyFu costs $39 and holds deeper Google Ads history. A buyer focused on PPC research picks SpyFu; an SEO team picks Semrush, which Adobe now owns. Our Semrush review covers its side.

What is SpyFu used for?

SpyFu is used for competitor SEO and PPC research: competitors' organic keywords, their paid keywords and ads, profitable keywords to bid on, and keyword rankings tracked over time. Agencies also use its sales-lead data exports and branded automated reports for client work.

How much do SEO tools cost?

SEO suite list prices run from $29 a month for Ahrefs Starter to $1,499 a month for Ahrefs Enterprise, and SpyFu's $39 Basic sits near the bottom. Our SEO tools pricing report covers 16 vendors, and our PPC statistics report covers what the ads themselves cost.

Bottom line

SpyFu's real price list is the checkout page: $29, $89 and $187 a month billed annually, $39, $119 and $249 monthly, plus $15 or $30 a seat. The $33 and $79 figures still quoted around the web come from an older page SpyFu hasn't taken down.

Basic is cheap because it withholds the ad history. Pro + AI is the plan to buy for PPC work, Team/Agency pays for itself at five users, and the refund needs a support request inside 30 days.

Where the SpyFu figures come from, and the date nobody prints

Plan prices, seat rates and plan limits come from spyfu.com/mainpurchase/?page=default, the checkout page, and the older rate card from spyfu.com/mainpurchase/?page=plans, both read on 16 October 2026. API rates are from developer.spyfu.com/docs/api-pricing. Refund and cancellation terms are from two help.spyfu.com articles, and the homepage claims are quoted off spyfu.com.

Semrush and Ahrefs prices are from semrush.com/pricing and ahrefs.com/pricing on 16 October 2026; the Moz Pro figure is from moz.com as read for our Ahrefs teardown on 4 October 2026.

Buyer quotes are verbatim from named reviewers on trustpilot.com, trustradius.com and capterra.co.uk, dated in the text. The G2 price panel and rating are from g2.com/products/spyfu. Neither SpyFu price list carries a date, so the page gives no way to tell when the $33 Basic and $79 Professional rates stopped applying to new subscribers.
