ThoughtSpot pricing in 2026: $25 seats, $0.10 credits and a $100,000 median contract
The numbers ThoughtSpot list prices and contract data, checked 17 October 2026
The lowest tracked contract, $38,640, is more than double what 50 Essentials seats cost at list.
Published seat prices describe the bottom 50 users; the Vendr median describes the contracts that outgrow them.
A year-two invoice depends on the true-up and renewal clauses in the subscription agreement.
I'll write a 2,500+ word report on the vendor you name, with seat prices, credit rules and contract clauses sourced line by line. Yours to publish, from $200.
ThoughtSpot pricing starts at $25 per user per month billed annually and ends, for the median buyer, at $100,000 a year. Two published seat prices, one published credit price and custom pricing for Enterprise sit between those numbers, and most of the money changes hands in the quote.
This report breaks down the ThoughtSpot pricing plans for internal analytics and embedded analytics, what each tier gates, the add-ons billed outside the platform fee, the clauses in the subscription agreement that move the total cost, and what buyers pay against list. It's written for data leaders sizing a first contract, for business users who want a number before a sales team calls, and for product teams pricing customer facing analytics.
The figures matter because the ThoughtSpot pricing model is three pricing models at once: per-seat plans, a consumption based pricing model on credits, and a monthly query cap on its AI agent. Every figure below was checked against ThoughtSpot's own pages, its AWS Marketplace listings and Vendr's tracked purchases in October 2026.
How much does ThoughtSpot cost?
How much does ThoughtSpot cost a team? At list, 10 Essentials users cost $3,000 a year and 50 cost $15,000, the tier's ceiling. Fifty Pro seats cost $30,000. Past that, the exact cost depends on custom pricing, and Vendr's 33 tracked buyers paid a median of $100,000, with the cheapest at $38,640 and the most expensive at $221,653.
That spread is the first thing to read between the lines. Essentials at full capacity, $15,000, sits $23,640 below the cheapest contract Vendr has seen, so Vendr's tracked buyers sign contracts larger than any Essentials account can reach. Next to the median, a full Essentials team is a drop in the bucket. The business intelligence cost report shows the same pattern across 11 vendors: published seats for small teams, quotes for everyone else.

Open the emailThoughtSpot analytics pricing plans
ThoughtSpot pricing splits across two products with different pricing structures. ThoughtSpot Analytics is the internal reporting product for teams replacing static internal reporting, priced per user or by usage. ThoughtSpot Embedded is the customer facing analytics product, priced by use case. The ThoughtSpot analytics pricing plans below cover the internal side; the embedded side follows.
Essentials plan
The essentials plan costs $25 per user per month billed annually, for 5 to 50 users and 25 million rows of data. It includes dynamic interactive dashboards, natural language search, actionable data insights, drilldowns, KPI monitoring with anomaly alerts, row level security, data encryption, data isolation and live connections to Snowflake, Databricks and Redshift. It leaves out the AI agents and SSO. Analyst Studio is an add-on.
The 50-user cap is the line that matters. A 51st user means moving everyone to Pro, which doubles the per user pricing from $25 to $50 and adds $1,250 a month to the total cost of a 50-person team.
Pro plan, seat-based
Pro costs $50 per user per month, billed annually, for up to 1,000 users and 250 million rows of data. It adds the conversational analytics agent, the data modeling agent, the dashboard agent, MCP connectors, AI highlights and summaries, automated change analysis and single sign-on through SAML, OAuth and OIDC.
Spotter, the AI analyst behind ThoughtSpot's AI powered analytics, is capped at 25 queries per user per month on seat plans; the Unlimited Spotter add-on lifts the cap at a quoted price.
Pro plan with usage based pricing
The second Pro route is usage based pricing from $0.10 per credit, a different pricing structure built on query volume, with the same 1,000-user and 250-million-row ceilings. This version bundles Analyst Studio and unlimited LLM tokens.
ThoughtSpot's consumption pricing docs say each active user consumes credits for searches, Liveboard views, model edits, admin changes, Spotter and Analyst Studio dataset loads. Base credit packages are valid for one year, and flexible credits are bought on top.
Enterprise plan
The enterprise plan carries enterprise pricing on a quote, with enterprise grade controls and the only unlimited users and unlimited data on the price list. It adds a 1-hour support SLA, custom domain configuration, unlimited permission groups, multi-tenancy by organization, advanced data encryption, VPN and VPC, the coding agent and flexible LLM selection.
Seat-based Enterprise keeps the 25-query Spotter cap. ThoughtSpot's own AWS listing for Enterprise Edition base credits prices a 12-month pool at $60,000.
What each tier gates
The table maps the published feature grid as of 17 October 2026. Every cell is a number or a named limit.
| Gate | Essentials | Pro | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|
| List price | $25 a user a month | $50 a user a month or $0.10 a credit | Quote; AWS floor $3,000 a month |
| Users | 5 to 50 | Up to 1,000 | Unlimited |
| Data capacity | 25 million rows | 250 million rows | Unlimited |
| Spotter queries | 0 | 25 a user a month (seat); unlimited LLM tokens (usage) | 25 a user a month (seat) |
| Single sign-on | Excluded | SAML, OAuth, OIDC | SAML, OAuth, OIDC |
| Analyst Studio | Add-on | Add-on (seat); included (usage) | Add-on |

Per user pricing hides the real step. Moving up a tier buys more data capacity as much as it buys AI powered features. A team that hits 25 million rows on Essentials pays double per seat for more data capacity before it touches a single AI feature.
Embedded analytics costs and the free developer plan
ThoughtSpot pricing for embedded analytics comes in two plans. The free developer plan runs for one year, with up to 10 users, 25 million rows of data, embeddable AI dashboards, the Visual Embed SDK and REST APIs. It's the only free plan ThoughtSpot publishes; the separate free trial lasts 14 days.
Embedded Enterprise carries "pricing aligned to use case and go-to-market requirements," per the rate card.
It adds embedded single sign-on, a custom company URL, the 1-hour SLA, unlimited users and data, and multi-tenancy, which keeps each customer's data apart inside one deployment. ThoughtSpot frames the model as a "predictable cost per user/customer." Embedded analytics costs therefore move with the number of your customers, which makes per-customer embedded analytics budgeting a sales conversation. Internal analytics costs move with the number of your employees.
That's the catch in the embedded analytics setup, and it's easy to paint yourself into a corner with it. The developer plan has no embedded SSO, so a product that puts dashboards behind its own login can't ship on it. Embedded analytics in production starts at a quote.
The embedded analytics startup bundle
Companies under $3 million in revenue with 50 or fewer staff can apply for a $12,999-a-year flat bundle: ThoughtSpot Embedded plus Analytics, unlimited data, 50 internal users and 50 external customers, 100,000 Spotter queries a year, Analyst Studio with a 10 GB query limit and 25 GB workspace, SSO, row level security, audit logging, and 30 hours of consulting.
It's the most transparent pricing ThoughtSpot publishes for embedded analytics, the one bundle where the total cost is printed, and the page promises "No hidden costs." The bundle names an upgrade path without a price.
Add-ons priced outside the platform fee
Five line items sit outside the platform fee on the pricing page, and each one changes the total cost:
Analyst Studio data prep, mashups and modeling: add-on on every seat tier.
Advanced analysis with SQL, R and Python in Analyst Studio, for advanced analytics work: priced as an add-on on every seat tier.
In-memory data cache through Analyst Studio or Spotcache: sold separately on every tier.
Unlimited Spotter: add-on on Pro and Enterprise.
Model Context Protocol server and embedding in internal enterprise apps: Enterprise add-ons.
The model context protocol server matters for embedded analytics teams and internal ones wiring ThoughtSpot into Claude or ChatGPT, both listed as Spotter front ends on the Spotter product page. On Pro, that connection runs through MCP connectors; the hosted server is Enterprise-only.
How credits and query volume drive a usage bill
Query volume is the meter on the consumption based pricing model, and usage based pricing turns every chart into a line item. ThoughtSpot's query-based usage docs say a search chart "typically generates one query," pivot tables and stacked charts generate several, and "A Liveboard view may generate multiple queries when loading multiple visualizations." Scheduled Liveboards, Monitor and SpotIQ "also trigger queries."
At roughly one credit per query, a 12-chart Liveboard opened 20 times a day by 30 people can fire 7,200 queries before anyone types a question. At $0.10 per credit, that's $720 a day from one board. The arithmetic is simple; the query costs surprise buyers who never counted Liveboard loads before signing.
LLM tokens sit outside the meter. The pricing page says ThoughtSpot "does not meter or charge for LLM tokens," and adds: "If you use your own LLM provider, that provider's fees may apply." The own LLM provider route is Enterprise-only, and the provider's fees land on a separate invoice.
Mirza H., a team lead at an enterprise account, wrote on G2 in April 2026 that ThoughtSpot was helping them "analyze the spootter [sic] credits utilization." Teams that buy credits end up keeping an eye on them, and on a credit plan the devil's in the details.
Hidden costs in the contract and the warehouse
Four hidden costs come from documents other than the pricing page.
The warehouse bill. ThoughtSpot runs live queries on your Snowflake, BigQuery or Databricks account, so every search also spends your compute. Murugan M., a senior data architect, wrote on G2 in June 2026:
"ThoughtSpot queries data directly where it lives (typically high-performance cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or AWS). Because Bridg uncovers massive volumes of non-loyalty transaction data, heavy ad-hoc querying from business users can quickly scale up cloud compute costs if query optimization and caching parameters aren't managed tightly."
Murugan M., senior data architect, G2, 2 June 2026
The true-up. Section 2.2(c) of the Cloud Subscription Agreement (version of 29 April 2026) says that when use exceeds the order, ThoughtSpot notifies the customer, who has 30 days to cut back or "purchase subscription rights commensurate with its actual use." Rows, credits, groups and embedding limits all count. User growth past a cap is a purchase; buyers bite the bullet within 30 days or cut usage.
Renewal pricing. The same agreement states "Renewal pricing is subject to change upon notice to Customer," with no percentage cap. Annual terms need 30 days' notice to stop renewal. Order forms are "non-cancellable" and, outside listed exceptions, "non-refundable."
Implementation services. The only published services package is the 30 hours of consulting inside the startup bundle. Vendr's buyer guide says professional services and premium support "are often bundled into initial quotes but are highly negotiable," so they belong on the negotiation list.
What buyers pay in practice
Real ThoughtSpot pricing shows up in contracts. Vendr tracks 33 ThoughtSpot purchases with a median of $100,000, a low of $38,640 and a high of $221,653, the top of the business intelligence row in the market intelligence platform pricing report.
Public listings add three more anchors. ThoughtSpot's AWS listing for ThoughtSpot AI-Powered Analytics prices Pro from $1,250 a month for 25 users and 250 million rows, and Enterprise from $3,000 a month for 30 users with unlimited data. Its Enterprise base-credit listing is $60,000 for 12 months.
In the UK, reseller InterWorks lists ThoughtSpot on the G-Cloud 14 framework at £67,906 to £286,161 a unit a year.

Email a briefThe highest figure in public view comes from a user, and it costs an arm and a leg. A verified user at an enterprise entertainment company wrote on G2 in November 2025:
"ThoughtSpot's custom-quoted pricing model can be a shock to BI budgets, particularly for those looking to embed or scale the platform, with costs exceeding $500K annually for large-scale deployments. In contrast to Power BI's affordable per-user tiers or Tableau's transparent licensing, ThoughtSpot's pricing can feel unpredictable and may pose a significant barrier for smaller startups and SMBs."
Verified user, entertainment, enterprise, G2, 27 November 2025
Smaller teams say the same thing in fewer words. A small-business reviewer in recreational services wrote on G2 in April 2026: "the cost is too high for us at this time."
Jesus D., a security analyst, wrote on G2 in October 2026: "The pricing/ROI is also a bit steep for smaller teams, which can make it harder to justify at scale." Jai K. described the credit squeeze on G2 in September 2023: "With those license fees and additional expenses, small firms can feel the pinch when credits go low."
Not every buyer is sore, and predictable pricing shows up in the praise. Aravind R., a senior risk analyst, wrote on G2 in June 2026: "The pricing feels friendly and delivers good ROI." Tom D., at an enterprise account, listed a "Predictable cost model" first among his reasons on G2 in July 2023. Predictable pricing is possible with ThoughtSpot, and it comes from a fixed seat count; the credit meter moves every month.
How to negotiate ThoughtSpot pricing
Vendr's buyer guide carries the negotiation figures, and they're Vendr's observations from tracked deals. It says ThoughtSpot's fiscal year ends in January, with quarterly closes in April, July and October; buyers who engage "60–90 days before a decision deadline" get more flexibility; and anchoring to a stated budget yields "20–35% better outcomes."
The same guide puts multi-year discounts at 15 to 30% off list, 20 to 35% for deployments above 200 users, and 10 to 20% for first-time, single-year buyers. It says 3 to 7% annual escalators are common and that "10–20% renewal increases have been observed" when buyers don't renegotiate. Run a multi-year offer through the NPV calculator before signing it. Iron out the details in the first contract and cap the renewal there, since the agreement itself sets no cap.
Two moves cost nothing. Right-size the license mix so only the people who build models hold full seats; Vendr puts the saving at 20 to 40% against over-licensing. And bring a real alternative to the table, since Vendr warns "credible competitive pressure requires genuine evaluation."
The sales team stays involved after signature, too, which helps at renewal and through the embedded analytics rollout: Adam S., a director of data and analytics, praised a "Great sales and customer success team that stays engaged, responsive, and helpful after signing a contract" on G2 in November 2024.
ThoughtSpot against Power BI, Tableau, Looker and Domo
ThoughtSpot's per user pricing lands in the middle of the published rate cards and at the top of the negotiated medians in the business intelligence market.
| Vendor | Published entry seat | Pricing model | Vendr median contract |
|---|---|---|---|
| ThoughtSpot | $25 a user a month (Essentials) | Seats, or credits at $0.10 | $100,000 (33 purchases)* |
| Microsoft Power BI | $14 a user a month (Pro) | Seats; $24 Premium Per User | Published rate card |
| Tableau Cloud | $15 Viewer, $75 Creator | Seats by role | $29,386 (734 purchases)* |

Seat prices are vendor list prices, billed annually, read in October 2026. Figures marked * are Vendr median annual contract values from anonymised buyer data. Sources: Microsoft, Tableau, and Vendr's Tableau, Looker and Domo pages. Tableau and Power BI both rank in the data analysis tools ranking.
On ThoughtSpot pricing against Power BI, the gap is plain: Power BI Pro at $14 undercuts Essentials by $11 a seat, and Microsoft publishes every tier.
ThoughtSpot's case rests on natural language search and natural language queries over a live warehouse, plus automated insights from SpotIQ, AI analytics that business users run without a report request. For buyers who mostly need internal reporting on Microsoft data, the bill favors Power BI, which also offers the more transparent pricing of the two.
What to budget
For a 50-user internal analytics team running internal reporting and natural language queries, budget $15,000 a year on Essentials or $30,000 on Pro at list, plus Analyst Studio if the data team models there, plus the warehouse compute every search spends.
For an embedded analytics product, where ThoughtSpot pricing is quoted per use case, or anything past 1,000 users on the enterprise plan, budget against Vendr's $38,640 to $221,653 spread with the $100,000 median as the planning number.
Self service analytics at scale enables users to stop filing tickets, and that's the AI driven insights pitch ThoughtSpot sells: AI powered analytics through Spotter, automated insights through SpotIQ and the AI powered dashboards on Pro, actionable insights on every tier.
The license is only part of the bill. ThoughtSpot cost planning should add the warehouse meter, the true-up clause and the uncapped renewal before anyone signs. For the product itself, the ThoughtSpot review covers setup, the learning curve and what users say.

Frequently asked questions
How much does ThoughtSpot cost per user?
$25 per user per month on the Essentials plan and $50 on Pro, both billed annually. Enterprise uses custom pricing; ThoughtSpot's AWS listing starts it at $3,000 a month for 30 users, $100 a user.
Is there a free ThoughtSpot plan?
Yes. The ThoughtSpot Embedded developer plan is free for one year for up to 10 users and 25 million rows. The ThoughtSpot Analytics trial lasts 14 days, and every other paid plan is billed annually.
Is ThoughtSpot any good?
Users rate it 4.4 out of 5 on G2 across 343 reviews, and Gartner named it a Leader in its 2026 Magic Quadrant for Analytics and BI Platforms. The most common complaint on G2 is the learning curve, with 24 mentions.
How much is ThoughtSpot worth?
Its last disclosed round, a $100 million Series F in November 2021, valued it at $4.2 billion. Contrary Research estimates $4.4 billion after a July 2023 extension.
Who does ThoughtSpot compete with?
Power BI, Tableau, Looker and Domo for internal BI, plus Sigma, Omni and Sisense, which ThoughtSpot names on its own comparison pages. The visual intelligence platforms ranking sets its prices against Power BI and Domo.
Which companies use ThoughtSpot?
ThoughtSpot's July 2026 release names Unilever, Lyft, Intuitive Surgical, Ecolab and Booking.com, and reports more than 35 customers paying over $1 million a year. Retail teams are one fit: ThoughtSpot ranks fourth in the retail analytics software ranking.
How does ThoughtSpot work?
It's a business intelligence platform that runs live queries on your cloud warehouse through a semantic layer. Users type a question, and Spotter or the search bar turns it into a governed query; the agentic analytics layer adds forecasting and change analysis. Nothing is copied into ThoughtSpot's own store, which is why warehouse compute shows up on your bill.
Bottom line
ThoughtSpot pricing has two faces, and the pricing structure changes at the 50-user line. The published face is $25 and $50 seats, $0.10 credits, a free developer plan and a $12,999 startup bundle, and it covers teams of up to 50 people cleanly. The negotiated face is a $100,000 median contract, a $3,000-a-month enterprise floor on AWS, and an agreement with a 30-day true-up and no renewal cap.
Small internal analytics teams can buy straight off the pricing page and hit the ground running. Everyone else is buying a quote, and the bargaining power sits in the first contract: renewal caps, a right-sized seat mix, and a credit estimate built from real Liveboard loads.
BI vendors, data consultancies and analytics teams use reports like this one in sales calls and budget reviews.
