GfK pricing: RegioGraph list prices, NIQ contract terms and deal values
The numbers GfK and NIQ pricing, checked 4 October 2026
Every published rate with the GfK name attached belongs to geomarketing software. The tracking service has none.
A 104% net dollar retention rate means revenue from NIQ's existing Intelligence customers rose 4% in fiscal 2024, net of any who left or cut back.
Signing for 36 months cuts RegioGraph's first-term rate in half.
GfK publishes one rate card. The GfK GeoMarketing webshop sells RegioGraph software from €2,080 for a 12-month licence, with NIQ Purchasing Power figures for one country included. Everything sold under the gfknewron name, the point-of-sale tracking most brands mean when they say GfK, runs on quotes.
This report sets out the published numbers, the contract terms NIQ disclosed when it listed on the NYSE in July 2025, and what buyers paid for GfK and its pieces. It's for procurement and insights teams putting a GfK cost estimate into a budget, and for anyone weighing it against Circana or NIQ's grocery products.
The figures matter now. The GfK brand moves under NIQ before the end of 2026, and NIQ's prospectus says its renewal process delivers "value-added product enhancements to support price increases."
How much GfK costs
Two charging models sit under one brand. Geomarketing software costs €2,080 to €10,240 for the first term at list, subject to VAT, for one user. Point-of-sale tracking in gfknewron, which NIQ sells as part of what it calls The Full View, costs whatever the quote says, on contracts that NIQ says typically run two to five years.
Two smaller signals fill the gap. A 2018 sheet from the Czech office priced one syndicated study at CZK 89,900, and NIQ's prospectus describes the charging approach for the big contracts. The rest of this page walks through each one.
Which GfK this page covers
Search results for the brand mix three things. GfK Connect is a German platform for Gewaltfreie Kommunikation, nonviolent communication workshops and trainers. GFK is also the code for Grand Forks International Airport in North Dakota. Neither has anything to do with the Nuremberg research firm that once took "Growth from Knowledge" as its brand claim, now "GfK - An NIQ Company," covered in our GfK review.
RegioGraph plan tiers
RegioGraph is the firm's mapping and territory software for sales and marketing teams. Here's how the tiers work. The webshop lists three tiers, each sold on a 12-month or a 36-month subscription, and every tier includes the maps and spending figures for Germany, Austria and Switzerland or one European country of choice.
| Tier | First term | Renewal term | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Analysis | €2,080 | from €1,500 | Maps, spending figures, Europe two-digit postcode map |
| Planning | €5,960 | from €4,310 | Sales territory planning |
| Strategy | €10,240 | from €7,900 | Location evaluation and street-segment analysis |
| Analysis, 36 months | €1,040 | €1,070, then €1,100 | Same features at 50% of list |
RegioGraph Analysis
Analysis is the entry tier at €2,080, with the core mapping features. The product page says a renewal is charged at "70% of the then valid list price," which it puts at €1,500 for the next term. Extra countries cost from €500 each in the configurator, which lists markets from Belgium to Turkey.
RegioGraph Planning
Planning costs €5,960 and renews from €4,310. It adds territory planning features, so a team that starts on Analysis and later needs to draw sales regions faces an upgrade of €3,880 at list. The 70% renewal rule then works from the higher tier's list.
RegioGraph Strategy
The top tier costs €10,240 and renews "from 7,900 euros." The extra money buys location evaluation and a street-level view of potential, with reporting at the level of street segments. A retail chain choosing store sites is the buyer it's built for, and our retail market intelligence guide covers the other inputs to that decision.
The 36-month term
The 36-month Analysis subscription starts at €1,040, then €1,070 and €1,100, for €3,210 across the term. The 12-month route costs €3,580 for its first two terms alone, so teams making a first purchase should decide the horizon up front. Teams that know they'll keep the software should take the longer contract and accept the lock-in.
What the spending figures cost on their own
The standalone NIQ Purchasing Power page shows no figure at all and says "Prices for multiple users upon request." The figures, sold in Germany as Kaufkraft, the name on GfK's own 2011 list, estimate how much money consumers in a postcode or district have to spend, and companies use them to rank regions for store openings and sales targets, often with our demographic segmentation methods.
An old list shows how the firm charged for them by country. The GfK GeoMarketing price list dated 12/2011 charged:
| Coverage | Level | Charge, 2011 |
|---|---|---|
| Germany | 5-digit municipalities | €998 |
| Germany | Street segments | €8,000 |
| UK | Districts and postcode sectors | €998 |
| Italy, Spain, Turkey, France | 5-digit level | €1,998 each |
| China and Brazil | 31 provinces, 27 states | €6,990 each |
| USA and India | Counties or ZIP codes, 603 districts | €12,900 each |
| Western or Eastern Europe | Regional edition | €8,990 each |
| All of Europe | Continental edition | €15,990 |
The same list multiplied the charge by 1.5 for two users and by up to 6 for larger groups, and took 50% off for subscribers on a minimum 36-month term. The structure survives in the current webshop. The numbers date from December 2011, so treat them as context for a negotiation and check the current quote before any purchase.
How NIQ prices gfknewron
NIQ's prospectus gives the clearest description of how the tracking business charges. Its "Intelligence solutions are typically priced based on data volume over a given period or based on the number of seat licenses for access to our software and are primarily sold through annual or multi-year contracts that are typically two to five years in duration."
Data volume, in practice, scales with the categories, markets and access tiers a buyer licenses, as our NielsenIQ review found for the grocery side.
gfknewron's own page lists 50+ countries, 100,000+ retail data partnerships and 180 million+ items tracked, refreshed every week, so a quote for one market and a quote for a global view of consumer behavior sit far apart. The Consumer module adds buyer research on why consumers chose one model over another. The Market module is sold as a way to act first on growth opportunities, and the bill grows with the number of brands and markets in scope.
Renewals rarely go down, in NIQ's own view of its business. The prospectus reports 104% Intelligence net dollar retention for fiscal 2024, 106% on the subscription portion, and says NIQ has "renewed all 68 of our largest clients by revenue whose contracts have come up for renewal since the 2021 Carve-Out Transaction." With about 23,000 client companies, the 68 are a sliver, but they're the accounts that set the pattern.
The investor version has its own audience. GfK Boutique claims 75 hedge fund clients and a 7-day lag on point-of-sale figures, and it's sold by quote like the brand version. It sits with the tools in our alternative data providers ranking.
Syndicated studies sold at a fixed charge
The firm's local offices have priced off-the-shelf studies in public. A 2018 Czech office sheet priced FutureBuy, a study of how consumers shop, run in 35 countries, at CZK 89,900 without VAT. The fee covered two reports and online dashboards that "can be accessed by up to 5 of your colleagues for the duration of one year."
Consumer Life, the study of more than 30,000 consumers in 25+ countries that NIQ has run since 1997, sells as reports or 24/7 online access, with no rate on the page. The Online Sensor report on how consumers buy tech and durables online also runs by request. Neither comes as a ready-made checkout item.
GfK's price research services
The brand also sells pricing work, which is the other thing people search for. Four pieces cover it.
- Online Pricing Intelligence. A 2018 brochure describes browser software with updates "up to every hour," item-level detail for a competitive set, 90 days of price history and 15 months of trend charts week by week. Its Retail Intelligence module came "exclusively with GfK's world leading POS data," which links online shelf tags to sales from the point-of-sale panel for assortment and pricing decisions.
- Average selling prices. Since the panel reports both units and sales value from retail partners, average selling prices come from the same feed. The hourly tracker records what shelves charge, while the Price Lab below covers stated preferences.
- Minderest partnership. On 5 April 2023 the firm teamed up with Minderest to track competitors' price points, running promotions and which items are out of stock, with update frequency set by how often each product group changes. That's the raw input for promotional effectiveness analysis.
- Consumer Price Lab. A March 2023 deck pitches survey-based conjoint, modeling and machine learning to find what people value most and to measure elasticity, how demand moves when the tag goes up or down. It tests pricing strategies before launch by simulating how consumers react, and tunes the whole portfolio "to maximise overall return," a margin goal set across the whole range.
Free commentary from the firm shows the kind of answer these services produce. A 2022 piece on market penetration in developing economies reported that consumer technology and durables sales fell 5.5% in the first half of 2022. More than 72% of households in Portugal, Italy, Spain, Germany and the UK owned a washing machine in 2021, against 20% in India.
The same piece found the share of UK consumers confident of being better off fell by nine percentage points from 2021 to 2022, while among consumers in India it rose by 11. India's GDP growth reached 13.5% from April to June 2022 against a 15.2% forecast.
The firm's advice was value growth through first-time buyers in India, and regional spending figures serve the same goal: prices that match what local households can spend. For brands with living room electronics and home entertainment kit to sell, that's a pricing and channel plan in one line.
Hidden costs and contract terms
The webshop terms carry four traps worth reading before checkout:
- Every RegioGraph subscription renews by itself "unless cancelled no later than 3 months before the contract expires." Miss that date and the next term is booked.
- Renewals run at a percentage of "the then valid list price," so a change to the list flows straight into the renewal.
- Rates are per user, and multi-user licences for the standalone spending figures are quoted separately.
- An upgrade from Analysis to the top tier adds €8,160 at list for the first term.
For gfknewron, the trap is the renewal clause. NIQ tells investors it supports "price increases" with product enhancements, and 104% retention shows the result. Ask for a cap on increases every time a renewal comes due and a notice period long enough to run a tender before the contract expires.
What buyers and insiders say about the cost
Public complaints about the firm's rates are rare, because few users discuss a contract under NDA. The ones that exist point the same way. A client in a 2012 r/nyc thread, reacting to a GfK panel invitation that came with two one-dollar bills, wrote:
"They have a very cool office above Chelsea market. but for the amount of money they charge us I'd think they could've put a couple of 20's in there."
Deleted Reddit user who had commissioned GfK research, r/nyc, 2012
Panelists see the other end of the bill. One in the same thread said "They'll pay you anywhere from $10-$75 to take one of their (lengthy) surveys," and a KnowledgePanel member on r/beermoney in June 2012 put it at "about $1 per survey."
Access costs money before any analysis starts. A job seeker on r/AskMarketing in February 2017 found that training for Nielsen, comScore and GfK exists, but "one cannot access them unless they are a paying customer." A former employee of a hardware company described the purchase on r/ValueInvesting in August 2024:
"I worked in tech, and we could buy some of this data by geo because we wanted to track our competitors. (For example, GFK in Europe.)"
Former tech industry employee, r/ValueInvesting, August 2024
Custom projects had the opposite problem. A former US employee wrote on Glassdoor in June 2018 about "Projects that are consistently underbid, making it almost impossible to deliver them on budget." Low bids on custom work and firm rates on syndicated tracking can come from the same company at the same time.
What GfK and its parts sold for
Deal values give the clearest view of what the business behind the rate card is worth. The unit also shows up in its parent's growth: NIQ's prospectus credits the combination with $462.2 million of 2024 revenue and most of its 18.9% revenue growth that year, with organic constant currency growth, GfK included, of 6.2%.
| Date | Deal | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2005 | GfK buys NOP World | £383 million in cash, about €550 million | MrWeb |
| 2017 | KKR tender for GfK SE shares | €43.50 a share, about €2 billion transaction value | Jones Day |
| October 2018 | Ipsos buys four custom research divisions | €105 million enterprise value | Ipsos |
| January 2024 | YouGov buys European consumer panels | €315 million | YouGov |
| July 2025 | NIQ, GfK's parent, lists on NYSE | $21 a share, 50 million shares | NIQ prospectus |
The panel business is under review. YouGov Shopper, the old panel business, booked £129.7 million of revenue in the 12 months to January 2026, and activist investor Gatemore urged YouGov to sell it even at a reduced price, per M&A Insights. Research Live reported YouGov's review of the division on 2 April 2026.
GfK against alternatives on cost
None of the direct rivals publishes a tracking rate card either. NIQ quotes its grocery products the same way, and Circana's public cost trail is federal contract records, both covered in our NIQ and Circana reviews.
For the wider picture, our market research cost report collects figures from 27 vendors, and the market intelligence platform pricing report covers software tiers. Buyers who only need competitor price monitoring can start with the pricing intelligence tools ranking and our pricing intelligence guide.
What to budget
- One analyst mapping regions: €2,080 for the first term of RegioGraph Analysis, €1,500 after, or €3,210 over 36 months.
- A sales operations team planning territories: €5,960 for Planning, plus seats for each extra user. Teams that start on Analysis face a €3,880 upgrade at list.
- A retail chain scoring store sites: €10,240 for the top tier, renewing from €7,900. Compare it with the tools in our retail analytics ranking.
- Brands tracking market share and what consumers buy: a gfknewron quote on a two-to-five-year contract, with time set aside for a renewal tender.
Write the cancellation date into the calendar on the day the contract is signed. Wait for the quote in writing before planning a launch around the figures, and check which countries it covers. Teams that are ready to sign should ask for the same discount the webshop gives for a 36-month commitment.

Bottom line
The published rates start at €2,080 and stop at €10,240, and all of them belong to RegioGraph. The tracking service that defines the brand is quote-only, sold on contracts of two to five years by a parent that tells investors its renewals support price increases.
Small teams that need regional spending figures can get them bundled in RegioGraph online and save half with a 36-month term. Brands that need gfknewron should budget for a multi-year commitment, negotiate the renewal clause before signing and track the cancellation date like a deadline, because the cancellation window closes 3 months before the contract expires.
