Quick comparison of the top demand generation agencies

Ten B2B demand generation agencies in ranked order, with the strongest pipeline figure each one publishes, its entry price and the buyer it fits.

Prices without a label are the figure the agency prints on its own site. Rows marked “on Clutch” are the minimum project size or hourly band the agency lists on its Clutch profile, which describe projects and can sit well below a monthly retainer. Gripped’s and Refine Labs’ figures were re-read on their own sites on 22 October 2026.

Where these figures come from

Pipeline, ARR and opportunity figures are each agency’s own published case or portfolio claim, linked in its entry. Review counts come from the Clutch and G2 profiles linked in each entry. Only Refine Labs, SaaSHero and Gripped print a price on their own sites; Directive, demandDrive and Callbox publish no price, minimum or hourly band anywhere public, so their rows read “Quote only”.

Worth checking

These ten are agencies. The platforms they run programs on are ranked separately: sales intelligence tools, visitor intelligence software and data enrichment tools.

B2B demand generation services are the demand generation agencies a software or services company hires to create demand among buyers who aren't shopping yet, then capture it once they are. The work runs across paid media, content marketing, account based marketing, lifecycle marketing and, at some firms, outbound SDR calling. The output that matters is qualified pipeline: opportunities the sales team accepts and can close.

This page ranks the ten best demand generation agencies on five tests a buyer can run from a browser in an afternoon. Every price, client count and case figure below links to the demand generation agency's own site, and every review count links to the Clutch or G2 profile it came from. Where an agency publishes no price, the entry says so.

It's written for marketing leaders at B2B companies, mostly SaaS companies between Series A and the mid market, who are choosing between a demand gen agency for SaaS companies, a lead generation agency and hiring in house.

Some buyers also come from professional services and industrial b2b companies. If you already run intent data or one of the ABM platforms, the demand generation agency's job is different: it runs the programs on top of the data, and that changes which firm fits.

Why now: the shift from MQL counts to pipeline metrics is close to finished in B2B demand generation. Demand gen agencies and lead generation shops that still report form fills and cost per lead are a dime a dozen. The demand generation agencies worth a retainer connect marketing spend to SQLs, opportunities created and closed revenue, and they publish proof of it.

Evaluation criteria for B2B demand generation agencies

Five criteria decide which demand generation agency makes the shortlist, and the ranking below applies them in this order. Each one is a test you can run before sales conversations start, and each produces a yes, a no or a number. Together they're the demand generation strategy check most b2b companies skip.

1. Pipeline-level proof with a stated method

Does the demand generation agency publish a pipeline, ARR or opportunity figure for a named client, or a portfolio average with the method behind it? "We drove growth" fails. "$4M in pipeline in six months for a named client" passes. A portfolio average that names its formula (ACV times opportunities, three quarters before versus after) ranks highest, because it's the hardest to cherry-pick.

2. A price on the agency's own site

Is there a retainer, a starting fee or a paid diagnostic with a number on it? Most demand gen companies, even the best demand generation agencies, quote custom pricing based on scope, so a published figure is rare and worth a lot. Where an agency publishes nothing, the Clutch minimum project size and hourly band stand in, labelled as Clutch's data.

3. Channel coverage you can count

Count the demand channels the demand generation agency runs itself: paid search, paid social, content and SEO, ABM, lifecycle and email, outbound SDR, and RevOps or marketing automation. Full funnel demand generation needs at least four of the seven, which is the demand strategy test most marketing teams skip. A single channel shop can still win if it's the channel you're short on.

4. Review footprint with visible criticism

How many reviews does the b2b demand generation agency carry on Clutch or G2, at what rating, and can you find at least one critical comment? Thirty reviews with one honest complaint about qualified leads or conversion rates tell you more than five reviews of pure praise.

5. Fit stated in numbers

Does the demand generation agency say which company size, ARR band or stage it serves? Refine Labs names $50MM+ ARR. SaaSHero prices by ad spend band. A firm that claims to serve every size of B2B company has told you nothing about your target audience fit.

The 10 top demand generation agencies, ranked

01

Refine Labs

Best fit

A B2B technology company above $50MM ARR that wants a demand generation agency to rebuild its measurement and improve demand generation spend before it buys more paid media.

Refine Labs says it has served 300+ mid-market and enterprise B2B tech companies with $50MM+ ARR since 2019. It's the only agency on this list that publishes a portfolio-wide pipeline figure with its formula attached: a 33% average pipeline value growth, measured as ACV times opportunities, three quarters before kickoff against three quarters after. It also reports a 41% average increase in high-intent demo requests and says 5 of 8 clients grew high-intent demand.

By the numbers
5 of 8

That's a refreshingly honest denominator: the other 3 of 8 clients didn't grow, and Refine Labs prints that too.

The agency's demand generation approach is the brand, demand and expand model, run across LinkedIn, Google, YouTube, Meta, CTV and out-of-home. It has added marketing operations through its acquisition of MOBI Solutions. That matters because pipeline measurement lives in the CRM data, and the ad platforms only see clicks. Qualified leads show up in the CRM first.

Key features

  • Ads across 6 named channel families: LinkedIn, Google, YouTube, Meta, CTV and OOH
  • Revenue Performance Assessment, a 6-week diagnostic with no long-term commitment
  • Marketing operations practice expanded through the MOBI Solutions acquisition
  • In-house creative team for ad creative, copywriting and video

Pricing

The Revenue Performance Assessment starts at $35,000 for six weeks. Ongoing retainers aren't published. Clutch lists a $25,000+ minimum project size on a profile with no reviews yet.

Pros

  • Publishes a portfolio average with its method, not a single best-case client
  • States the ARR band it serves, so $5M ARR b2b companies know to look elsewhere
  • A paid diagnostic lets you test the team before signing a retainer

Cons

  • $35,000 to start is out of reach for most early stage startups
  • G2 shows only 4 reviews, and Clutch shows none
  • No ongoing retainer price on the site

Its four G2 reviews praise the method over the output. One validated reviewer on G2 (Andrea W., September 2020) named what they valued as "Their approach to marketing, their knowledge about the space, and willingness to experiment."

Chart of Refine Labs published averages: 33% pipeline value growth, 41% more high-intent demo requests, 5 of 8 clients grew demand

Why it’s ranked #1. Refine Labs beats SaaSHero on criterion 1: a 33% pipeline average across its portfolio with a stated formula outranks SaaSHero's single $504,758 client case, and nobody above it exists to lose to.

02

SaaSHero

Best fit

A SaaS company spending up to $10,000 a month on Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads that wants a paid media agency with a price on the page.

SaaSHero is a demand generation agency and paid media managed service for B2B SaaS companies, and its pricing page does something almost no demand gen companies do: it prints the number for its b2b demand generation services. The Growth Team retainer is $4,500 a month in the up-to-$10k ad spend band, one flat fee across every ad channel with no setup fee. Its TripMaster case reports $504,758 in net new ARR in one year, a 650% ROI and an 80-day payback.

The trade-off is scope, and it's where buyers drop the ball by expecting one paid shop to run everything. SaaSHero covers paid search, paid social, CRO, landing page design and reporting. It doesn't run content strategy, lifecycle marketing or outbound, so it's a demand capture specialist more than a full funnel demand generation partner.

Key features

  • One flat retainer across all ad channels, priced by 7 ad spend bands from up to $10k to $200k+
  • Growth Team + Creative tier at $6,000 a month in the first band
  • Playvox case: a 10x drop in cost per SQL on Google Ads

Pricing

$4,500 a month for the Growth Team, $6,000 with creative, on one 3-month agreement billed monthly. Ad spend is on top. G2 lists SaaS Hero at 4.9 from 50 reviews.

Pros

  • The only agency here with a full retainer price card
  • A named client ARR figure with ROI and payback attached
  • 50 G2 reviews and 11 on Clutch, the second-deepest footprint in the top three

Cons

  • Ads only; no content marketing or SDR program
  • Prices for bands above $10k ad spend aren't printed
  • Creative quality draws the sharpest criticism

"The creative could be stronger, but we also didn't have well-defined brand guidelines and visual identity to start with."

CMO, WaitWell, on Clutch, February 2024

Speed is the pro reviewers name most.

"Everything I've asked for is treated as a high priority, and they often complete requests within minutes."

Co-Owner, CTS Software, on Clutch, September 2019

Why it’s ranked #2. SaaSHero's $4,500 published retainer beats Directive, which prints no price at all; it loses to Refine Labs because one $504,758 case is a single client, not a 300-company average with a method.

03

Directive

Best fit

An enterprise technology company that wants one b2b demand generation agency covering paid media, SEO, creative and RevOps under a single contract.

Directive's homepage lists 130+ marketing strategists, six offices (Orange County, Austin, New York City, Mexico City, London and Toronto), work since 2013 and $1B+ in revenue generated.

Worth checking

For mid market SaaS companies weighing scale, the page states two different brand counts: 700+ in the body copy and 420+ in its meta description. That inconsistency is small, but it's the kind of thing a buyer should ask about on the first call.

Key features

  • Performance division: content and SEO, paid media, performance creative, programmatic, revenue operations
  • Communications division: influencer, organic social, paid social and PR
  • 10 industries served, from construction to telecommunications

Pricing

None published. Clutch lists both the minimum project size and the hourly rate as undisclosed.

Pros

  • 4 of the 7 channels in criterion 3 in-house: paid search, LinkedIn and Meta ads, content and SEO, RevOps
  • 56 Clutch reviews at 4.8, the second-largest footprint here
  • Offices across North America and London for time-zone coverage

Cons

  • No price, minimum or hourly band anywhere public
  • The $1B+ figure has no method or client breakdown
  • Conflicting brand counts on its own homepage

Reporting is where the critical Clutch reviews land. A Digital Marketing Manager at LogicGate, asked what Directive could improve, wrote on Clutch (December 2023): "Tailoring the message and performance data to the audience being presented."

Why it’s ranked #3. Directive's 56 Clutch reviews and $1B+ revenue claim beat Gripped's 32 reviews and logo-only cases, but the claim has no method and no price, so SaaSHero's printed $4,500 retainer stays above it.

04

Gripped

Best fit

A UK or European B2B SaaS company that wants a demand generation agency with a published retainer ladder and a team that runs paid media, content and web together.

Gripped prints its engagement models in sterling: Advisory or Execution from £3,500 a month plus project fees, Performance from £7,500 and Scale from £15,000. The page also says most marketing leaders invest £8,000 to £12,000 a month for strategic execution across core channels, and that paid media budgets of £5,000 to £150,000+ sit outside the retainer.

That's the most honest description of total cost on this page, and it lets a buyer cut to the chase on budget. What's missing is a dollar-figure client case; the case evidence is logos and reviews.

Key features

  • 3 published retainer tiers from £3,500 to £15,000 a month
  • Website projects priced separately: £18,000 to £45,000 refresh, £45,000 to £150,000+ redesign
  • Flat monthly fees with an upgrade path between tiers
  • A one-time onboarding fee (amount not stated)

Pricing

From £3,500 a month, excluding ad spend. Clutch lists a $5,000+ minimum project and $100 to $149 an hour.

Pros

  • A full retainer ladder plus the typical spend band most clients land in
  • 32 Clutch reviews at 4.9
  • States plainly that paid media isn't included

Cons

  • No pipeline or ARR figure for a named client
  • Contract length and notice period aren't on the pricing page
  • Reviewers ask for firmer direction when tests fail

"One area for improvement would be providing more assertive guidance when certain approaches aren't working as expected."

Digital Marketing Manager, IT services company, on Clutch, November 2025

Why it’s ranked #4. Gripped's £3,500 published entry beats demandDrive, which prints no price; it trails Directive, which carries 56 reviews to Gripped's 32 and at least claims a $1B+ revenue figure where Gripped shows only logos.

05

demandDrive

Best fit

A mid market or enterprise B2B company that needs outbound SDRs and demand generation campaigns run by the same partner.

demandDrive started as an SDR and BDR outsourcing firm and now sells demand generation, ABM programs, RevOps and Clay services alongside it. Its homepage cites $136M in opportunities driven for Qorvo, $16M in pipeline for Medrio and a 1,300% ROI for Jenzabar.

That's the outbound half most demand gen agencies leave to your sales team to generate demand on its own. Running it well is easier said than done in complex sales cycles with multiple decision makers.

Key features

  • SDR and BDR outsourcing for outbound prospecting and inbound lead qualification
  • Demand generation across paid ads, SEO, GEO, email, content and content syndication
  • RevOps work covering lead routing, SLAs and CRM automation
  • Clay Studio Partner and HubSpot Diamond Solutions Partner

Pricing

No figures published; only its enterprise Variable Programs are described as outcome-based. G2 lists demandDrive at 4.6 from 69 reviews.

Pros

  • $136M and $16M named-client pipeline figures
  • 69 G2 reviews, the deepest G2 footprint on this list
  • Runs the SDR layer, closing the gap between marketing and sales teams

Cons

  • No price or minimum anywhere public
  • Outbound-heavy model can drift toward meetings booked over pipeline quality
  • Qualification of inbound fit draws complaints

"An engineer on the team could help filter out some of the RFQs that don't really fit our abilities."

Michael D., mid-market company, on G2, June 2026

Why it’s ranked #5. demandDrive's $136M Qorvo figure beats Hey Digital's percentage-only cases, but with no published price it can't pass Gripped's £3,500 retainer on criterion 2.

06

Hey Digital

Best fit

A product-led SaaS company running sign-ups and trials that wants a demand gen agency for paid ads across six networks.

Hey Digital says it manages $2.3M+ in monthly ad spend for 200+ B2B SaaS companies, across Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Meta, YouTube, Reddit and Bing. Its Toggl case reports a 52% cut in ad spend alongside a 159% increase in deal value, and its PostHog case an 18.5% lift in cloud conversions.

Have you noticed?

The cases are percentages without dollar baselines, which is why it sits below demandDrive.

Key features

  • 6 ad networks named, including Reddit Ads
  • ICP, targeting and ABM planning inside the media plan
  • Video ads and landing page design in-house
  • Slack for daily work and recaps after every call

Pricing

None on the site. Clutch lists a $5,000+ minimum project and a 4.6 rating from 6 reviews.

Pros

  • $2.3M+ monthly spend managed is a checkable scale claim
  • Covers Reddit Ads, which most paid social agencies skip
  • Named PLG clients with public brands

Cons

  • No dollar pipeline figure
  • Only 6 Clutch reviews
  • Proactivity is the recurring complaint

The most recent Clutch review, from a Sr Growth Marketing Manager at Checkly in January 2026, puts it in four words: "They could've been more proactive."

Why it’s ranked #6. Hey Digital's 159% Toggl deal-value lift ties paid spend to revenue, which beats SmartBug's 183-MQL case; it trails demandDrive, whose Qorvo case is $136M in opportunities.

07

SmartBug Media

Best fit

A company running HubSpot that wants a demand generation agency for inbound marketing, lead nurturing and sales enablement built inside the platform it already pays for.

SmartBug Media lists 250+ team members and 1,200+ professional certifications, and it's a HubSpot Elite Solutions Partner named 2025 HubSpot North American Partner of the Year. Its Ashling Partners case reports 183 new MQLs and 18 demo requests from a trade show program; its ABM case a 116% year-over-year rise in Tier 1 digital contacts.

It's the inbound demand generation pick here, and the inbound marketing specialist among the top demand generation agencies. Marketing automation platforms, lead scoring and workflows are its home ground, and the demand generation agency's paid media is a supporting act.

Key features

  • HubSpot onboarding, admin and migrations across 6 Hubs
  • Demand generation, paid media, SEO, PR and event management
  • Revenue operations: reporting, segmentation and analytics

Pricing

None published. Clutch lists $150 to $199 an hour and 4.9 from 38 reviews.

Pros

  • Deepest HubSpot bench in the category, with 1,200+ certifications
  • 38 Clutch reviews at 4.9
  • Handles lead scoring and lifecycle marketing natively

Cons

  • Case results are MQLs and demos, not pipeline dollars
  • Less useful if your CRM is Salesforce-only
  • Planning can sprawl

"The sheer volume of ideas and initiatives can sometimes make general planning a bit difficult."

Lead Developer, TestMonitor, on Clutch, April 2026

Why it’s ranked #7. SmartBug's 38 Clutch reviews and 250+ staff beat Callbox's vendor-only averages for verifiable cases, but its 183-MQL case stops short of the pipeline-level evidence Hey Digital and demandDrive publish.

08

Callbox

Best fit

A B2B company selling into several countries at once that needs appointment setting by phone, email and LinkedIn.

Callbox says it was founded in 2004, has served 15K+ companies and run 10K+ campaigns, with teams in the US, UK, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Colombia. Its channels are phone (human SDRs plus AI voice agents), email, LinkedIn, chat and events. It's closer to lead generation than demand creation, and it's honest about it.

Its headline numbers, a 3x average pipeline growth within 90 days and about two weeks to first lead, are vendor averages with no method or named client attached.

Key features

  • Outreach in 60+ countries, by its own count
  • Human SDRs working alongside AI voice agents
  • Data enrichment drawn from ZoomInfo, Lusha, Apollo and Clearbit
  • Webinar and event lead generation programs

Pricing

Not published; the site says it varies by scope, market and engagement model. Clutch shows 4.6 from 128 reviews, with minimums undisclosed.

Pros

  • 128 Clutch reviews, the largest footprint on this page
  • Coverage across Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Americas
  • Fast start: about two weeks to first lead, by its own figure

Cons

  • Pipeline averages carry no method
  • Appointment-setting lead generation risks low quality leads if ICP rules are loose
  • Performance varies by market language

"Callbox could work on improving their effectiveness in certain markets where English is not so well spoken."

Executive, Hello Health Group, on Clutch, December 2024

Where the language fits, the verdict flips. A Marketing Manager for APAC and Japan at Quadient wrote on Clutch in January 2025: "They over-deliver and meet every area of our goals."

Why it’s ranked #8. Callbox's 128 Clutch reviews beat Obility's 29, but its 3x pipeline average has no method, so SmartBug's named 183-MQL case outranks it on criterion 1.

09

Obility

Best fit

A B2B technology company that wants a specialized demand generation agency to run paid search and paid social with tight campaign optimization.

Obility's own site blocks automated access, so its entry rests on its Clutch profile: founded 2011, 10 to 49 employees, 29 reviews at 4.8, a $5,000+ minimum and $150 to $199 an hour. The B2B Playbook's roundup describes its pricing as custom, based on scope and ad spend.

Key features

  • Paid search and LinkedIn ad management for B2B tech
  • Clutch reviewers include a Director of Paid Media at Dialpad
  • Pricing tied to scope and ad spend

Pricing

$5,000+ minimum project and $150 to $199 an hour, per Clutch.

Pros

  • 29 Clutch reviews at 4.8
  • A $5,000 minimum is within reach for a seed-stage team
  • Paid specialists, not generalists

Cons

  • No case figures reachable on its own domain
  • Narrow channel mix compared with Directive or demandDrive
  • Communication is uneven across the team

A Director of Paid Media at Dialpad flagged exactly that on Clutch in November 2025: "Communication could be better with some team members."

Why it’s ranked #9. Obility's 29 Clutch reviews and $5,000 minimum beat Ironpaper's 2 G2 reviews and $25,000 minimum, but it publishes no case figure, where Callbox at least claims a 3x average.

10

Ironpaper

Best fit

A B2B company with a long buyer journey that needs content, thought leadership and ABM built on HubSpot.

Ironpaper was founded in New York in 2003 and has 70 people working remotely across the US. It's a HubSpot Diamond partner and runs ABM, content strategy, sales enablement and nurturing. Its Solartis case reports an 86% increase in MQLs in six months and 10 SQLs created in one month.

Key features

  • ABM, demand generation and lead generation programs
  • Content strategy, thought leadership and messaging
  • Sales enablement and nurturing
  • HubSpot Diamond, Google Partner and Databox Premier credentials

Pricing

None on its site. Clutch lists a $25,000+ minimum and $200 to $300 an hour, the highest hourly band here.

Pros

  • 23 years in B2B marketing
  • Publishes original survey research, including a CRM survey of 358 B2B leaders
  • Named SQL counts in its case study

Cons

  • Only 2 G2 reviews and none on Clutch
  • $200 to $300 an hour is the top of this list
  • Case evidence stops at MQLs and SQLs, no revenue

"Ironpaper helps us to improve our sales funnels by doing an analysis on what is wrong, right, as well as what to improve."

Lucas O., small business, on G2, July 2023

Why it’s ranked #10. Ironpaper's 10-SQL case beats agencies that publish nothing, but 2 reviews and a $25,000 minimum leave it behind Obility, which carries 29 reviews at a $5,000 entry.

What a B2B demand generation agency does

A demand generation agency builds the system that turns strangers into buyers, and the best demand generation agencies tie that system to business outcomes. The demand creation side reaches people before they're in-market, with content marketing, thought leadership and social media marketing that educates buyers on the problem. The demand capture side catches them once they are, through paid search, review sites and fast follow-up from the sales team.

Good b2b demand generation services do both, using marketing automation and content marketing together, and they help align marketing and sales on one definition of a qualified lead. That shared definition is where conversion rates move and lead quality improves: when marketing teams and sales agree what an SQL is, sales feedback flows back into targeting and the sales cycle shortens because prospects arrive educated on the value proposition.

B2B companies typically sell through longer sales cycles with multiple stakeholders, so the demand generation agency's demand generation program has to nurture across the whole buying journey. That means audience segmentation by role, lead nurturing through targeted email marketing, and CRM and marketing automation connected so campaign data reaches the opportunity record.

Demand generation vs lead generation

Lead generation captures contact information for an immediate sales follow-up, and it's often transactional and short-term. Demand generation focuses on long-term relationships with prospects and improves lead quality through education and engagement.

A lead gen agency or lead generation agency is paid on volume: names, form fills, meetings booked. A demand gen agency should be paid on pipeline growth and revenue growth, and its demand generation campaigns judged on pipeline quality.

Important

Qualified leads beat raw volume, and more leads don't always mean more revenue. If an agency's monthly report leads with cost per lead and raw lead volume, it's grading itself on vanity metrics, and vanity metrics don't close.

Ask for qualified leads, then SQLs, opportunities created and revenue influenced, in that order, plus campaign performance by channel. Callbox and demandDrive sit closer to the lead gen end, which suits b2b companies short on meetings; Refine Labs sits at the demand end; most of the rest blend the two.

Types of demand generation firms and when each fits

Demand gen agencies split into five groups by where their core services start.

  • Measurement-first demand creation firms (Refine Labs): fit companies with budget already flowing that can't tell which spend drives pipeline.
  • Paid media specialists (SaaSHero, Hey Digital, Obility): fit teams with content in place who need Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads and paid social run hard.
  • Full funnel demand generation agencies (Directive, Gripped): fit companies replacing a missing marketing team with one partner across multiple channels.
  • HubSpot-centered inbound agencies (SmartBug Media, Ironpaper): fit teams whose bottleneck is lifecycle marketing, lead scoring and nurture logic.
  • Outbound and SDR hybrids (demandDrive, Callbox): fit companies whose sales team is short on first conversations.
Quick tip

Pick from the demand gen agencies by your weakest channel. Hiring a full funnel demand generation firm when only paid search is broken is barking up the wrong tree, and it costs an arm and a leg.

Pricing at the best demand generation agencies

By the numbers
3 of 10

Only three of the ten demand generation agencies publish a price on their own site for their demand generation services. The spread runs from £3,500 a month at Gripped to a $35,000 six-week diagnostic at Refine Labs. SaaSHero sits between them at $4,500 a month for up to $10,000 in ad spend.

Clutch fills some gaps for the others: $5,000+ minimums at Hey Digital and Obility, $25,000+ at Ironpaper and Refine Labs, and hourly bands from $100 to $149 at Gripped up to $200 to $300 at Ironpaper. Those are Clutch's listings, set by the agencies, and they describe project minimums. A monthly retainer can sit well above them.

The hidden costs sit outside the retainer:

  • Ad spend. Gripped says client paid media budgets run £5,000 to £150,000+ a month, on top of fees.
  • Creative. SaaSHero charges $60 per static image and $750 or more per landing page a la carte.
  • Onboarding. Gripped charges a one-time fee it doesn't price publicly.
  • Websites. Gripped's full redesign runs £45,000 to £150,000+.
  • Minimum terms. SaaSHero's is three months; most agencies don't publish theirs.
Before you sign

Budget the retainer plus ad spend plus one quarter of ramp before you judge results. Cutting corners on that ramp is how a b2b demand generation agency gets fired at month two, before the sales cycle has had time to close anything.

How to evaluate a demand gen agency before you sign

The demand generation strategy you buy is only as good as the evidence behind it. Demand gen agencies that can't show demand gen proof in a first call won't show it in month six.

Choose a b2b demand generation agency based on your specific business needs, and test it the way you'd test a hire. The devil's in the details, so run these five checks:

  1. Ask for case studies that show pipeline contribution. A named client, a dollar figure and a time window. Refine Labs, SaaSHero and demandDrive pass this from their homepages.
  2. Check they understand your ideal customer profile. Ask them to describe your best three target accounts after one call. Well-defined customer profiles are what targeted marketing strategies run on, and they keep lead generation campaigns from filling the CRM with qualified leads in name only.
  3. Evaluate their strongest channels against your gap. If your gap is LinkedIn, an SEO-first firm is the wrong hire.
  4. Read the critical reviews first. Every agency here has one; what it says about communication or creative predicts your month three.
  5. Agree the pipeline metrics before kickoff. Write the demand generation program terms down: which SQL definition, which opportunity stage and which attribution window count.
Worth checking

Effective b2b demand generation connects marketing spend directly to pipeline metrics, and the same report should show conversion rates at each stage. If the demand generation agency can't name the CRM fields it will report from, you're back to square one with prettier dashboards.

Bar chart of Clutch and G2 review counts for the ten ranked agencies, Callbox highest at 128 Clutch reviews

Intent data, ABM and AI in B2B demand generation strategy

Account based marketing customizes campaigns for high-value target accounts, and intent data identifies which accounts are researching your category right now. Agencies don't usually own that data; they run programs on platforms like Demandbase or 6sense. Before you hire, check which ABM platform the demand generation agency has run and what the intent data pricing adds to your budget.

Predictive analytics uses that data to spot when buyers are in-market, and data analytics across the whole funnel is how a good demand gen agency decides where the next dollar goes. The marketing strategies that follow from it should be written down in the demand generation program before the first campaign. Our rankings of lead intelligence software, ICP tools and GTM tools cover the software those programs run on.

AI tools are changing how B2B buyers research vendors, and buyers demand proof earlier in the buying journey. Powered by Search sells AI and LLM search visibility as its own service, and demandDrive lists GEO inside its demand generation work. Content has to answer the buyer's question in its first paragraph.

Customer advocacy and the expand motion

B2B demand generation doesn't stop at closed revenue. Customer advocacy programs turn satisfied clients into repeat business and referral sources, and the customer stories they produce become the social proof that shortens the next sale. Refine Labs builds this into its "expand" stage; SmartBug runs it through HubSpot's service tools.

A referral can look like a drop in the bucket next to paid volume, but it closes faster. Ask how the demand generation agency measures expansion pipeline; few agencies report it.

Frequently asked questions about demand generation services

What is a demand generation company?

A demand generation company is a demand gen agency that creates awareness and buying intent among potential customers, then converts that interest into qualified pipeline. It runs content marketing, paid media, ABM and lifecycle campaigns, and it should report on qualified leads, SQLs and opportunities created.

How much should you pay for B2B demand generation services?

Published entry points on this page run from £3,500 a month (Gripped) and $4,500 a month (SaaSHero) to a $35,000 six-week diagnostic (Refine Labs), before ad spend. Gripped says most of its clients invest £8,000 to £12,000 a month.

What are examples of demand generation?

Educational content and thought leadership, LinkedIn and paid social campaigns aimed at a target audience, webinars, account based marketing to named accounts, and lead nurturing email sequences are all demand generation efforts that create demand. Paid search on high-intent keywords is demand capture, and lead nurturing through marketing automation connects the two.

What is B2B demand?

B2B demand is the share of your target market that's aware of the problem you solve and considering a purchase. B2B demand generation builds that share through trust and education, so that more buyers enter the sales funnel already leaning toward you. Lead nurturing and inbound marketing keep that share warm until the sales team is ready.

Bottom line

Refine Labs is the b2b demand generation agency pick for a $50MM+ ARR tech company that wants pipeline measured before it spends more, and the $35,000 assessment is the cheapest way to find out if the method fits. SaaSHero wins for a SaaS team that wants paid search and paid social run on a printed $4,500 retainer.

Directive and Gripped are the full-service demand gen choices for b2b companies: Directive for enterprise breadth, Gripped for UK and European teams who want to see the price ladder first.

demandDrive and Callbox are the lead gen picks when your sales team needs conversations booked, SmartBug and Ironpaper when HubSpot is the system everything runs through and conversion rates between stages are the problem, and Hey Digital and Obility when the gap is paid ads alone and the job is to generate demand fast for b2b companies with a short list of target accounts.

Whichever b2b demand generation agency you shortlist from these b2b demand generation services, make it show you pipeline, price and one honest complaint before you sign. Bite the bullet on a three-month ramp for inbound marketing and paid programs alike, and judge it on qualified pipeline at the end.
